Bar Fight

1171 Words
Holly's POV I am looking at Kevin's busted face as both of his goons walk toward me. Luca swings his long legs over the bar counter. Stepping between them and me. "Boy's I don't think you want to do this." He holds up his hands. "Oh, we do," all three goons share a look. "Because of her, our bud looks that way." Pointing to Kevin propped on the bar drinking his beer. Not even bothering to look at the scene. "How the hell is it my fault?" I asked shocked. "If he hadn't been in the cells the men in there wouldn't have done that to him." One spat back at me. "Not my fault his dumb ass pissed someone off." I shrug. "You idiots tried to kill me with a bull!" I shout, my hands flipping because I am mad. "Should have been worse." The guy who ate the bar counter stands rubbing his wrist and arm. I know Luca can hold his own, I can too. Well as long as it is not multiple at once. I back up to Luca's back. "Ok dumb shits," a voice bellows causing all of us to look toward Marc. He placed his beer on the counter, cracks his neck on both sides. "Giving Kevin a beating was my plan." A devilish grin spreads across his face. "If you wanna punch something look my way, pretty boys." Even I know if they were smart they would just pack their s**t and get out. They are not. All turn to face him, getting ready to jump. I know they aren't smart. They charge he uppercuts the first one close enough, that they fall unconscious to the ground. The other two charge at the same time. He clotheslines them both. They fall to the ground, knocked out as they land. Wiping his hands together, "Damn, that's it?" He looks at both of us with a raised brow. Luca and I share a look. Then burst into laughter. "Yeah ain't nothing that tough out here." Hoots Luca. "You have earned yourself a free beer." Luca jumps the counter again as he slaps the back of Kevin's head. "Pay for theirs and yours and get out." He snaps to him. As Kevin flinches at his words. "Come on Firecracker, have around." Marc glances at me. "Celebratory of course." He chuckles. Walking past me to the bar near Kevin. Glancing down he whispers something and Kevin's eyes go wide as he glances at me then at him again. Kevin slaps some money on the counter and doesn't look back as he grabs the guys and exits. Both Luca and I give Marc a raised brow. "Gotta know what ya said?" Luca leans forward dropping a beer in front of Marc. Marc takes a long look at me, I swear he did a smolder, looking back to Luca as he lifts his beer. "I just said mine." He shrugged as he drank a good portion of the beer. Luca and I shared a look. "What is Mine?" I sit a stool over from him. The corner of his lips tips up. "You." He turns to look with another smolder as he goes back to his beer. My elbow slips off the counter and I damn near fall off the stool. But catch me and straighten my spine. "I don't belong to you." I scowl back. "In their eyes that is all that matters," Marc winks at me as Luca bellows with another round of laughter. "I did not see that coming!" Luca slaps the counter and holds his sides. I reach over the counter grabbing a beer hose and squirt him. "Shut up," I snap at him as he levels up and starts crying. "Is it so bad, to have someone think that?" Marc sets his beer down. Getting up and walks to me like a snake coiled to strike. I open my mouth, as the scent of Irish spring and musk roll into my nose frying my brain. Closing it I just glare. "Don't think that means anything other than a thank you." I try to turn. Marc grabs my chair. Keeping my eyes looking straight at him. "Well shall see." He stares quietly as has me caged in. First time in my life, my brain doesn't have a comeback, and my temperature rises. My breath starts coming in a pant. Sweet. Baby. Jesus. How stupid could a guy make me. I tell myself as I stare into his honey-colored eyes. I knew I was getting lost in his eyes, as Luca handed me an open corona. "Thanks, Bro." I tilt the beer back angling my face away from Marc. Marc stands up and leans on the counter right next to me. "I doubt anyone has ever done that." A self-satisfied look passes over him. "Nope!" Luca answers with a grin. "I have never seen Holly speechless till today!" He yips happily. "Shut it Luca" I snap. Taking another swig of my beer while I play things back in my head. "Stop thinking," I heard Marc say next to me. He wasn't even looking. "It's nothing more than a layer of protection while I am here." He shrugged. I am pretty sure he could see me squirm. I nod to him and settle into my beer. We all drink in silence as the Sheriff and his buddy from the Tribal police pop in. They settle on the other side of me. "We heard there was a fight in here." The Sheriff mentions as he orders around. "More like a scuffle, with dumb shits getting kicked out." I snort. "Kevin?" The Sheriff turns his tired blue eyes to me. "Yep," I sip my beer. "Ok," He nods and leans with his back to the counter. The Tribal officer pipes up then, "Your dad needs wood and food." He eyes me. "I will be out tomorrow." I groan. That means me and the chainsaw have work to do. "I will let him know." He stands as both officers start to head to a table. Leaning my head on the counter, I pound it into the counter squeezing my eyes shut. Lord how I wished my life could be different. He won't be as drunk tomorrow I hope, but he will be mean. "You want me to go with you?" Luca asks quietly. "No, sleep I have to find the chainsaw and load the wood," I mumble face still on the counter. "No food or wood he will be meaner than a wet cat." Looking up to give him a weak thank you kind of smile. "He sees you and he will try to fight you." I stand sliding the beer to him. "I need to go home and find that chainsaw." I sigh standing up. Luca gives me a hug. I turn to look at Marc "Thank you." I grunt. "Welcome," He nods. Turning his attention to Luca. I wander out of the bar deflated more than when I arrived.
