Weathering the Storm

1106 Words
Holly's POV The first couple storms were wild. Picking up things that I had tied down and peeling the roof off the hay shed. I had put a call in to Clint, for some bits yo fix the shed. He said when we had a break he would have someone come up and fix it. Breaks between storms could be an hour to a couple days. Just depended on how fast and hard they came. I hoped today would be good, I had been tarping the hay for several days during the rain and wild weather. I heard the hay truck coming, walking from the shed, I opened the gate and watched the truck drive up with metal roofing materials. It parked next to the hay shed. I closed the gate and headed up behind it to see Marc getting out of the truck. I gulped. I hoped Clint was with him. Though I had a sinking feeling he was not. "Hi," I squeaked. "Clint with you?" I glanced around. "Nope," Marc grinned leaning against the driver side door. "In case it gets crazy he wanted to stay close to Melissa, so he sent me." He found this whole thing funny. The lopsided grin he had, made me want to smack him. "Well, I guess you better get to work so you can make it back." I huffed turning on my heel to go back to the barn. I heard his laughter as he began getting tools I was guessing. *********** A few hours later, as I left the barn, I heard a string of cussing rolling from the hay barn. I finished what I was doing and headed out to check. Turning the corner I found Marc holding his hand as blood poured out it. "What happened?" I asked getting closer to gently take his hand in mine to see the damage. "Putting the siding away and a sharp piece of metal sliced through those old worn gloves." He grumbled. "I will be fine." Marc started to pull his hand away. "Yeah sure, come to the house and I will get this cleaned up and bandaged." I gently started pulling his hand behind me towing him to the front door of my house. *********** Marc's POV *********** My heart stampeded as she gently took my injured hand in hers. Holly wasn't listening to my whines when it came to just being fine. I got tugged behind her, so what did I do? Yep I enjoyed the view of her backside as she lead me to her place. "Sit," Holly commanded. I sat down looking around at how she had placed pictures all over with photos of horses and people. There was a small couch and chair with a two person table for furniture. A myriad of colors that abounded all over with blankets rugs and other bits. Nothing matching anything but some how it all fit. Holly came back with a white box and big red cross on it. Laying it open next to her on a small side table, she looked up with her big brown eyes. "Let me see it again please." Holding her hand out gently. I placed it in hers, "not how I was expecting you to touch me." I half assed chuckled. Holly ignored my words and began to disinfect and treat my small wound. After that she placed a bandage round the palm covering the injury. It was flexible and soft. "Don't get it wet for at least two weeks." She stood packing up the supplies to out it back. I stood up, stretching the kinks out as she came back in. So, I made a show of my muscles to watch her cute little face turn to awe. We both heard it at the same time, causing us to lock our eyes on each other. The thunder rattled her little house. Looking to see a new storm decended so quickly that neither of us expected it. It was supposed to be clear. Holly's eyes went wide with realization as I grinned. I couldn't have planned it any better. I was gonna be stuck her with her while this storm blew itself out. For Monsoons that was literally any hour to week. "Looks like I will be here a while." I shrugged. I watched a range of emotions slide across her face as Exictment to panic when she heard me. "I guess you get the couch." She glanced at the tiny thing. Not even a couch really more of a loveseat. "It folds out to a bed." She huffed turning on her heel. "I will go grab you some blankets and a pillow." I stood looking out at the whiping wind and rain and gave them a silent thank you. I was going to show her what it was like to have a man around. Not in a bad way either. If I got to kiss her again great if not I would keep hoping. "Here are some blankets and a pillow. It does get cold in here when the woodstove dies down." She placed them on the side of the couch. "I am headed back out to feed and lock everyone in for the night." Holly took her pistol off the top of her fridge and turned to the front door. "Here I will go with you. I need to double check that I closed the windows in the work truck." I followed her out to get slammed by the wind and rain. I went to the truck rolled up the windows and grabbed the emergency bag that Clint told me to pack just incase. I dropped it in near the barn door as I stepped inside to see her feeding and closing the doors to their outside areas. Horses were dancing and snorting at the sounds coming from the Storm. Holly was quiet and methodical in her approach to how she got it done. Throwing the hay first to gain their attention and then quietly going the back of the stall to close the door. I guessed it was where she found her courage to do the fighting and handle all the chaos around her came from. It was sexy to me. Way more so then I would have thought. I wanted to pull her to me and kiss her silly. I needed the timing to do so. She sould give in and I would make her mine. Crap... I am getting possessive her. Me being attached was never a good thing, but I wanted to be attached in many ways to that little brown eyed firecracker.
