ZOE'S POV
I looked up as the door opened. Austin stepped in and closed the door quietly. Something in his eyes changed. His smile was gone. He looked tense, eyes scanning the room.
I sat up straight. “Is everything okay?” I asked carefully. “Did you see her? The woman from earlier?”
He paused. Just for a heartbeat. But I caught it.
“She looked so much like me” I said softly.
Austin sighed deeply and sat down looking worn.
“She looked like you,” he repeated, running a hand over his face. “Because she is… your twin sister.”
I blinked. “My… what?”
“Your twin,” he confirmed gently. “Her name is Chloe.”
I got confused. A twin sister? Why hadn’t anyone mentioned her before? Why hadn’t she come in to see me if she was really my sister?
