“So Zoe is in the hands of a dangerous and unstable woman?” Austin asked coldly.
His face turned dark with rage.
“That seems to be the case.” I muttered.
“Why would you let her get that close to Zoe, knowing the kind of person she is?” He spoke loudly.
“I didn’t let her” I snapped my voice raw and defensive. “She showed up out of nowhere. At my house and then at the office. I didn’t even know how she found me.”
“You didn’t know?” Austin shot back, stepping closer. “You’re supposed to be this careful, calculated man. Isn’t that what you pride yourself on? And yet you let a woman you used to be engaged to, a woman you know is unstable, walk right into Zoe’s life and put her in danger?”
