ZOE’S POV
“What are you doing Zoe?”
Austin’s voice cut through the air like a blade.
We both spun around.
He was standing just a few feet away, arms crossed with his brows drawn low in confusion.
Chloe instantly stiffened her panic returning as she looked from me to him. Her mouth opened as if to explain.
But I spoke up before she could.
“Oh no, it’s nothing..” I said quickly with a forced laugh that felt too sharp on my tongue. “Just sister stuff, you know? Teasing her about something stupid, and she totally took it too seriously.”
I gave Chloe a playful nudge and another laugh. It felt forced. Chloe stared at me in shocked for a moment before she realized what was happening. She gave a short laugh.
“Yeah.” she said with a weak smile. “Just silly sister banter.”
