The voice was Dru’s. I turned and the smile faded from my face as insecurities washed over me. I suddenly dreaded what he thought and it hadn’t even crossed my mind a few moments before. I stood up and the flowing fabric of my bright yellow skirt fell around me; a halo of radiant suns kissing my legs. His eyes grew wide and he dropped one of the sack bundles he had been balancing in his arms. As he continued to stare at me in surprise, I looked down and assessed myself once more, holding my skirt out and wondering if his surprise was good or bad. He finally picked up the fallen bundle and tried to compose his expression with a clearing of the throat. “I have cheese and berry jam for bread if you’re hungry.” Then he continued on through the hut door with the bundles.
