Chapter 3 : ANYA

“finally, we're done with that presentation, I don't know what I'll do if we still didn't get an A.” Rocky spoked.

“I'm so glad you could make it, I got nervous about presenting our project.” Stella added, one of our groupmates.

I slowly nodded, before taking a seat next to Raquel.

“What's with you today? you look sick, do you need to go back at the infirmary?” She noticed while directly looking at me in the eye, confused.

“Huh? ah, no I'm just tired.” I still can't get over what happened.

So much has happened in one day, then what about tomorrow?

“Maybe she got bullied because of the incident, regarding Torres.” I heard Stella uttered to Rocky.

She instantly turned to me, looking for answers.

“No, Atleat not yet, thankfully.” I answered wearily.

People might be treating me different now, but I guess it's better than getting questioned.

And also I can go back to what I usually do.

Class ended after the long discussions, Danica and Rocky then also started discussing about me when she caught her.

I rolled my eyes at her immaturity, Danica and I are of the same age actually, but she was born 3 months earlier so, yeah.

Danica is a half witch, my mom's sister married a mortal, that's why the council let us go.

But even so Danica's aura of magic is so little that she isn't able to use it.

That's why I wasn't able to study in my own world, my mom teaches me though.

“Hey Kevin, Ryan, where did you put the banner?” I heard Rocky asked when we passed by them near the lockers.

They gave her a confused look.

Then they both looked at each other nervously.

“I think Ryan left it in the gymnasium.” Kevin uttered instantly, pointing at him.

“What the-you son of a-” I stopped them from talking before sighing in frustration.

“I'll just get it myself, can you guys wait for me at the gate. ” I looked at them waiting for an answer.

Danica just nodded, I headed my way back inside, even though I was already far away, I can still hear them both bickering even here.

There's a very long story why they got tangled with Rocky, they made a bet a few months ago about skateboarding at the biggest skate park here.

And as I was expecting she won the bet, but their egos didn't took it lightly, they refused to give her the prize.

Which is a skateboard she wanted, and you could already expect the worst after that.

She beated them up. Just in case you did not get that part.

I was able to witness that scene cause it's near my house, not because I wanted to be there, and if you're already thinking that it's why I met Rocky.

Well, you see, Even though we have the power to get ourselves a more secure place to live in, it's also still dangerous for people like us.

Atleast we can still protect ourselves since we aren't just anyone.

But what I'm worried about is my brother working for the council.

After making sure there was no one inside I entered the gymnasium.

I looked everywhere for a blue banner, but since even the chairs are blue, I can't find it easily.

I knew that I should have chosen a different shade of blue atleast.

“Where is it?!” I whispered desparately.

“Where's what?” I got startled that I almost lost my balance but thankfully whoever he is, he captured my hand before my face could even hit the floor.

When I looked back at him, my eyes widened in surprise, he smiled at me.

My heart was thumping hard.

“Are you looking for this?” he waved the blue folded banner with his right hand.

I felt butterflies when I realized Noah and I are holding hands.

“Y-Yeah, Rocky left it so I went back to get it.” I stammered awkwardly, please tell me he didn't actually read what's written on it.

“It's beautiful.” he whispered.

“huh?” I managed to mutter, he then pointed at the banner.

“The banner, your calligraphy was beautiful.” he genuinely said, my cheeks heated up in embarrassment again.

Aaaaaack. I screamed mentally while remembering what's written on it.

That was so cheesy, he suddenly chuckled when he noticed my expression.

“I was just heading out now, let's go together?” he asked, waiting for my permission.

I slowly nodded, can I breath now? I think I can melt already and fade away in this world if he holds my hand again.

We walked together on the hallways while we talked, but then I felt something strange from behind that I couldn't help but turn around.

But the corridors were empty, I squinted my eyes, but there was really no one, must be my imagination.

“why are you smiling? It's been an hour already, sleep.” my mom complained beside me.

“I can't help it.” I replied back covering my face with the pillow.

Even though this is not the most perfect day ever, It was still the most memorable.

I felt her gaze, when I looked at her emerald eyes, I can already guess she was picturing something on her mind.

“It's about a boy, no?” she raised her right eyebrow at me.

I hate when she corners me like this, but i mean I can trust her, with some few details.

“yes.” I slowly responded.

“What happened?” she continued, now in a calmer motherly voice.

“nothing much, He just held my hand.” I admitted.

She brushed my hair softly before whispering.

“I'm glad that you're happy even after all the things I made you went through, you stayed contented with what we have left, you put on a reassuring smile when I couldn't afford us our own home, I'm really sorry for my shortcomings as your mother.” she softly whispered, teary-eyed.

“mom.” I worriedly hugged her tight.

“It's fine if you find someone to love and be loved, but promise me that you'll always remember your worth, don't lose yourself, remember where you came from.” I looked at her in the eye, annoyed.

“What are you suddenly talking about, you talk like I'm gonna leave you for a boy, That's never gonna happen.”

I retorted.

She only smiled warmly at me and closed her eyes.

“I know.”

I inserted my white button down shirt long sleeve in my black & blue pleated skirt, before wearing my blue necktie.

The emblem of the school is stitched on my right chest, on the shirt's pocket, obviously a raven would be included in the symbol, but only with black wings, above it were daggers that formed like the crows own crown.

I got my bag and went downstairs, Danica and Aunty Lila was already eating.

They also stay here, mom and aunty share the rent of the house, they both work to afford our school fees, food,clothes and bills.

That's why Danica and I tried the entry exams, and luckily I was able to ace the test, and now sponsored by the academy.

I didn't told anyone about how I passed yet back then, since I was overthinking of what will Danica feel when I found out she wasn't accepted.

So I just opened up about the sponsorship to mom to ask for any suggestions, she adviced me that I tell Aunty.

Aunty didn't wanted to us to separate schools when I got in Maven high, so she decided to pay for Danica's tuition fees, and mom agreed to help.

“Cresha, I'll be out for 2 days, for work. ” I heard Aunty Lila whispered to Mom in the kitchen.

I pinched my left ear when I felt pain, I hate this abnormal enhancement in myself.

Whereas I can suddenly hear crystal clear but then fades seconds later, my mom told me that all witches reaches their full abilities when they turn 18, but I'm only 16.

She's not gonna be home tonight, and mom comes home late, that means I can check the Curse book for antidotes.

Stella greeted me when we saw each other near the tall gate of maven high.

She was chatting with Ryan, I raised my eyebrow at him.

“Where's your bestfriend?” I teased.

His smile was replaced into a sarcastic one.

“Bestfriend who? If you're looking for Kevin, I don't know, maybe he's dead.” he muttered in an irritated voice.

I let out a small laugh.

“I just thought it's weird for me to not see you with him.” when I looked at them both they were not looking at me anymore.

I followed where they were looking at, I was taken aback.

The hallways, corridors even the doors and windows were vandalized.

And what's even worse, my name was written in capitalized letters right infront of us.
