Darker Past of Velaris

1699 Words
Velaris - a land of light. A land hailed in all lands nearby for its beauty, strength and power. A land protected by the elements and promised to be protected by a greater power than the elements at the rise of the leader that was said in the ancient oracle - the one true ringmaster. Who would have thought that this harmonious land would be living in blood and strife?   " I guess that's how you lose your beauty Velaris", Cassidy whispers as her mind travels back to the time before the existence of the signet ring in Velaris. Before the existence of Signet Ring  " Your Highness the light water tribe has unlocked a new elemental ability," said the spy.   Marcus narrowed his eyes.  " Why did you say so?" he asks.   " They claim that the light in their water element cannot just create weapons of light but it is also a source of wisdom and power bestowed by the skies", the spy answered.   Marcus tilts his head as his brows furrowed.   " What do you mean wisdom? How?"  he asks successively.   The spy shrugs his shoulders. He doesn't know. That all he digs out. Marcus got pissed. "Vanish!" Marcus screams angrily at the spy.  Wisdom? bestowed by the skies? What was it? Is the ancient oracle refering to their Tribe? It has to!  or... Marcus sractches his forehead at that thought. or else... No! It can't be in my brother's line. He got threatened.         "Chambermaid! Prepare my transports"! shouts Marcus. It's time to visit them. He thinks. At Oxevar   Oxevar - an island the of priests. Marcus steps out from his carriage and proceeded to the towering rough stones surrounded by clumps of grass. The people in long cloth meet him at the entrance and guided him, their gestures show that Marcus is a long-time acquaintance. Inside the rough stone tower, is Ilex the most known priest in Velaris. He is known for giving oracles that tested to come true not only that he possesses black magic.   "Why are you here?", said Ilex. He's got a hallow voice and a mark on his right cheek.  " What do you know about the ancient oracle? Who is it?" asks Marcus. Ilex chuckles and looks straight at Marcus' eyes.   " How could I know an oracle that doesn't come from the dark?", Ilex answered.   " Then who uttered it?", Marcus sounds more curious than pissed. Ilex just laughs slyly. " I cannot solve your problem", he said shrugging his shoulders.   " That oracle has been uttered already by someone powerful than us! There's nothing I can do to stop it from taking place!", said Ilex.  Marcus's eyes widen. What? more powerful? What if the person in the oracle is not from his bloodline? not from their tribe?   " That ruler in the oracle!"   Marcus lifts his finger, shouting.    " That ruler to rise... has to come to from my blood! from the Royal Tribe!",  he said looking intensely at Ilex.   Ilex stares at him for seconds, grasps his chin, and then laughs balefully.   " That!.." Ilex snaps his fingers. " I can help you with that", he said. " How about an oracle for an oracle?" Ilex  added rubbing his hands, grinning. Marcus tilts his head, his one eyebrow raises/ " How about an oracle that would tell that this ruler will come from the Royal Tribe?" Ilex  continued. There he gets it. Marcus's eyes brims in joy. It has been his dream to have dominion over the other Tribes. He can't accept the fact that every tribe is equal in Velaris. It's boring if everything  are just equal. And this oracle about the ruler who's got more powers than the elements is his ticket to glory! Marcus thinks. His face couldn't hide his greed and excitement. " Yes! It's so damn fine!", he insanely replied to Ilex. " You can count in my words. Wait for it to happen", Ilex said to him.   This dark priest - Ilex, has been his friend for a long time. He had helped him rose to power, solved his problems, craft wicked plans, and even kill for him. He has hope in his words. Marcus flashes a smile at him and leaves. As soon as Marcus left, Ilex's right-hand man who's been listening all along to their conversation rushes to him. " so do you want us ta take action now?" the right-hand man asks. Ilex raises his palm signaling him to stop. " No, not yet", he replied. " Let's make him wait a little longer and see where his impatience will take him", Ilex said . Months have passed but still, no new oracle is circulating around Velaris. Marcus couldn't wait any longer. He has to do something on his own. I must go to my brother! I must go to the Light Water Tribe and get the element he possesses! Marcus thinks. He rose from his seat and gathered all his armies. They mounted on their horses and marched with their weapons towards the light water tribe. The watchman from the boundaries rushes to Baecus with the news about his brother Marcus. Baecus hurriedly gathered his men but they are unprepared for this attack. " Cassandra!" Baecus shouts looking for his daughter. " Dad I'm here", the eighteen-year-old Cassandra rushes breathlessly. " I know what's he's here for.... come with me", his father said. And they leave hurriedly and goes to the underground cave at the back of their tribe land. " we're here", Cassandra's father said as if rushing. Cassandra can't understand what's happening. " Dad why uncle is raging a war against our tribe?", she asks. " She wants to get this", his father replied showing the lights on his palm cause by ther tribe element. " Perhaps he heard about something special, like about the light in here and he's gonna take it", his father explains. " But now I'm gonna give the light in here to you", said Baecus. Then he strikes Cassandra with the element he possesses as if consuming her with it. " Water and light I command you to hide your light in the depths of her soul and be awaken when it's time" Baecus authoritatively uttered as a bright powerful force covered his daughter. " Finish, now it's finished.."  Baecus said after a minute. "come let's get out of here",  he said, holding his daugther's hand. And they mounted on the horse and run away to the cliff near their tribe. He built a castle on the mountain on a cliff in secret that is for his daughter to have a refuge in times like this. " Dad are you leaving me here?", Cassandra asks terrified, her voice cracks and her lips are shaking. " Honey... hide in here, this is far from our tribe capital", his father replied. " And do you think I couldn't found you?" Marcus interrupted from a distance. He's with Lumus and his other armies. Cassandra sees how her father is startled seeing Lumus with his brother. " How could you", Baecus said in almost a whisper staring at Lumus. Lumus, the friend he trusted. The right-hand man who knows everything about him and of this castle on the mountain cliff. " How could you even put my daughter's life in danger too?" Baecus said at Lumus, his eyes are full of disappointment. " Because I promise him your throne and your element once I get what I wanted", Marcus replied, smiling devilishly. Hearing all of it Cassandra screams her rage out and runs towards his uncle hitting him with his fists. But Marcus blocks him and throws her hard on the ground. Seeing the blood on his daughter's face Baecus rage. He pulled out his sword and runs towards his brother. They exchanges clashes. The sound of swords echoed on the whole place. Baecus uses his elements, but his brother Marcus is even stronger. " Your entire armies are dead now, just back off brother , give me the light of wisdom in that element of yours,"  Marcus said to his brother. " My element has no such thing!", Baecus shouts back. Marcus looks at Lumus as if commanding him. Lumus grabs Cassandra who's lying weak on the ground. Marcus aims his palm on Cassandra's head. " Your daughter who did not even inherit your tribe's element will surely die when I use my tribe's element on her.", Marcus said to his brother. He's refering to the weapons of the Royal Tribe which is the cosmic element. " Summon it now! Disown it or else! ", Marcus screams insanely commanding, threatening his brother. Baecus is without a choice he summons the element to denounce him as his owner. Ilex laughs echoed around their dark rough temple stone. It's such nice to watch how these tribe kings ruined each other. You really are a monster of greed Marcus. Darkness flows in your bloodline. He thinks. Now it's time to play my part. " Call the other priest", he ordered at his right-hand man. A ruler with great power than the elements A ruler with great wisdom than the water and light A ruler will rise from the Royal Tribe. And the entire Velaris couldn't be more shocked by that oracle. Now, the great ruler in the ancient oracle is coming from the Royal Tribe. She lost being the princess of the light water tribe. But as time goes by she become known as princess Cassandra of the Royal Tribe and at the emergence of the signet ring she become Ringmaster and Queen Cassandra of the Royal Tribe. Seeing again those memories of the past, Cassidy could just smirk. You played with the oracle, but time made a way for me. By killing my father and bringing me to the Royal Tribe, my uncle, that was my enemy made a way for me to become Cassandra of the Royal Tribe? And who would have thought? That Cassandra will become the ringmaster? The exact phrase that was uttered by the oracle you just orchestrated?  You played with fate, but still, fate wins in the end. She thinks.
