If only I knew that you were coming, I wouldn’t have let Conrad invite his friend over.” I can feel that Genevieve is sincerely sorry to me for the situation that I had to witness tonight, but something deep in my guts is telling me that she is also sorry to herself. “It’s fine. I don’t really mind, Genevieve. And why should you be sorry? This is your house; you can invite anyone you like. It’s somehow my fault for crashing here without an early notice.” I smile, “Well, I do really want to surprise you.” “And I was.” The delight and happiness in her voice is very audible. Another reason to praise myself for being such a smart mastermind for giving her a gift that I know will mean so much to her. It’s just that, I didn’t expect the devil to come crashing here too
