Jake came back home the next morning. He met Sheena cuddled up on the sofa sleeping. He moved to her, leaned in and kissed her lips lightly.
Sheena's sleepy eyes fluttered open and when she saw it was Jake who had kissed her, she jerked up awake, scanning the room.
'We are alone.' He calmed her.
She relaxed and took a look at him. He looked exhausted. She could tell he barely had any sleep last night.
'How is she?' Sheena asked him, recalling the events of the previous night.
'The doctor says she's stable. She needs to be kept under observation for a few days before she'll return home.' Jake answered her question, taking a seat beside her.
