Chapter 1

1021 Words
I am sitting in my language class, and when I say I'm dying, I mean it. The language teacher is a plump lady with slightly greased black hair that reaches her shoulders. She is wearing a white top, and black plaid knee-length skirt. Sitting in the front row as the teacher drones on about the subject does not improve my mood either, "Gosh! Who on earth can even sit in this class?" I ask. Language class is supposed to be fun, with extra activities, interrogative sessions, us making fun of the teacher, and so on. But all that we do is hear our teacher drone on and on about the importance of language. "People like us, you know, we're sitting in this class," My best friend Aubrey says. I give her a look, and she makes a gesture of zipping her mouth and throwing the keys inside her mouth. "How can you throw the keys in your mouth after you close it, silly?" I ask, rolling my eyes. "With my hand," She says. I sigh as I put my head in my hand and close my eyes to sleep. I hear a peculiar sound towards my left but am greeted by the empty benches. My class consists of 34 students, and the room is still enough for many more. "Did you hear that noise?" I inquire Aubrey, wondering if my head is playing games with me, or I must be going crazy. "Um... Sorry, but what noise?" she asks, scrunching her face in confusion. Yep, I'm officially going crazy. "Um... nothing, my sleepy head is imagining things again." The sound gets louder and louder, and I feel myself being stuck on the bench. I can not move a muscle, and beads of sweat embrace my forehead. My head feels dizzy, and my breath is narrowing. I don't know what is going on, but a sudden incredible pain shoots out throughout my body, and I let out an ear-splitting scream. I look at my left, and Oh My God... there is a mist-like figure twirling above a tiny tornado, and it has blood-red eyes, no nose, no mouth... it looks terrifying. The teacher looks at me and bursts out laughing with an evil glint in her eyes. My eyes water as I witness my classmates being frozen in their places like an ice statue. I look back at the teacher to see a sickly pale lady. Her hair and eyebrows were sickly white, and her lips look like they are made of snow and frost. Her eyes are white. I shoot out of my seat and run across the room. My eyes sweep over my best friend. She is always with me in times of trouble, but right now, she is nothing but a statue. Tears roll down my cheeks as the lady painfully makes her way towards me. Believe me, when I say, I've never seen a ghost movie. Once when I tried to watch Annabelle, I freaked out seeing the doll and immediately turned off my television. Suddenly I feel a presence behind me, and I turn around to see a girl around my age, she has on a white jumpsuit with a cape, and she has a white mask on her face. She looks kind of intimidating, and I don't know which side she is on. "Don't worry I won't hurt you, but hold on tight," She says, "What do you mean?" "Just hold on okay, I'll explain once we're safe." "Okay," I quickly grab onto her shoulders as she backs away to the window. Our class is on the 2nd floor, and you will always have a clear view of the assembly hall. Not that our school is enormous. I tighten my grip on her as she jumps outside the window. Oh, My God! I'm going to die, but then I feel some tingling sensation on my feet as we descend slowly to the ground. "What on Earth is that?'' I ask the mysterious girl as I try to regain my breathing. "No time to explain, we have to get out of here fast. I cannot defeat both the Ice women and her minions." "Wait... what," "You ask too many questions." "Well, it's not my fault that my friends are turned into ice statues, my so-called teacher is well, not my teacher but some creepy ice... whatever, and a black mist with blood-red eyes are creeping me out, and suddenly I get thrown out of the window from the 2nd floor. So, yeah, I sure ask a lot of questions." I glare at her. Who does she think she is, a darn princess!? "Listen, I know it's hard for you to understand, but first we have to get away from here. We can't risk our lives. So, we better get moving." She says in a soothing voice. I nod my head and follow her when I perceive a loud blast from the other side of the hall. I turn my head, and my heart sinks into my stomach. The language class collapses on the ground, and the Ice Women is having the statue of my best friend, and the ice woman shatters my other friends to a million pieces of human limbs. My heart aches at this sight. "You better stop running, or I will not mind breaking your tiny little friend over here. You can save her, I've only frozen her, not crushed her." The Ice lady says with a menacing smile on her face. "No, don't! Why are you doing this?'' I scream at the Ice woman. "Don't listen to her, you won't be able to save her." The mysterious girl tries to reason with me. "Are you serious? That's my friend you are talking about." "We cannot waste time. If you don't come now, you won't even get a second chance to save her." On saying that, she grabs my arm, and soon enough, we are floating our way out of the school. "You loathsome humans, stop right now, but don't say I didn't warn you." The Ice woman screeches. I turn around just in time to see Aubrey vanish into a cloud of snow frosts. "No......." I screech, knowing that I will not get her back. My friend, who has my back since 5th grade, is no longer alive, and that is because of me.
