Chapter 2

"I only met you today, but you want to usurp my position as Morgan's wife. Are you really the woman my husband loves? Or are you the b***h who seduced him?" "Watch what you say! I'm not a b***h! Obviously, your husband loves me. I'm the only woman in Morgan's heart!" said Fiona arrogantly. Fiona then pushed Alice until she fell to the floor. Then, she knocked on the door. "Morgan, it's Fiona. Can I come in?" she asked in a spoiled tone. Soon, the door opened. Morgan opened the door, and Alice was still there. "Come in; you'll be sleeping with me from now on," Morgan said, taking Fiona by the hand without caring about Alice's feelings. Alice, who was still there, just smiled sadly. She was really not wanted by her husband. They both entered the room, and Morgan locked the door to his room, while Alice had to go to another room to sleep tonight. When Alice was about to leave, her steps suddenly stopped. She overheard Morgan's conversation with Fiona. Alice eavesdropped on their conversation from outside the room. "Why exactly did you come back to life? Weren't you declared dead five years ago?" Morgan asked Fiona. "After donating my heart to that woman, I went abroad to get a new heart. Fortunately, I was given a chance to live, even though I was declared dead in an accident in the past." Fiona had tears in her eyes; she cried in Morgan's arms. "But are you sure? You're going to divorce her?" asked Fiona, doubtful of Morgan's decision. "Alice has been with you for four years." "Of course, I'll divorce her now that you're back. She's just a replacement wife to take your place. I married her for a reason. Because—" Before Morgan could finish his conversation, Fiona kissed him. While Alice was shocked when she eavesdropped on their conversation, she found out that she had only been considered a substitute wife all this time. "So I... I was... I was just a replacement wife for you, Morgan?" Alice couldn't bear to listen to what she knew anymore, so she just left. Alice went downstairs and accidentally bumped into the housekeeper's aunt, a woman who had served as a maid for the Morgan family for a long time. The uneasy feeling in Alice's heart prompted her to seek answers. She approached her aunt with a questioning expression, trying to find an explanation for the name her husband kept mentioning in his sleep - Fiona. From her aunt's account, Alice learned that Fiona was Morgan's ex-fiancée. Five years ago, she was rumored to have been involved in a traffic accident and was pronounced dead. The news had long been a part of the past, tucked neatly behind Morgan's now-husbandly life. But the reality Alice faced was far from what she expected. Fiona was still alive. However, all this time, she never came to their house. Only after Alice and Morgan's marriage entered its fourth year did she come back. This left a big question that shook Alice's mind: Could Fiona have survived the accident, or were they separated and now back together? Alice was so curious about the two of them in the past that she went into Morgan's private room. There was a picture of Morgan and Fiona hanging on the wall. Fiona was wearing a beautiful wedding dress, and so was Morgan, who was wearing a bridal jacket. Alice accidentally found pictures of Morgan with a woman she had never met, neatly arranged on a small table. The face was familiar—Fiona, the name Morgan often mentioned in his sleep. It was then that Alice realized the painful truth: Fiona was not just a thing of the past, but her husband's first love. The private room she'd never been allowed to enter wasn't Morgan's parents' storage room, as she'd been told. Inside, all of Morgan and Fiona's memories were stored in one place—the loving photos that hurt Alice so much, as if time had never erased the love in Morgan's heart for Fiona. A feeling of devastation slowly enveloped Alice. She felt she was just a substitute, a shadow of an unfinished love. That night, she caught Morgan with another woman. Her heart broke. Unable to bear the pain, Alice left their room and hid in another room. It was there that she cried silently. The morning had arrived, and the sunlight entered Alice's room. She was startled when someone woke her up. "Alice... Alice... wake up! Make breakfast for Morgan." It turned out that Alice was woken up by Fiona. "You told me to, so why don't you make breakfast for Morgan? Aren't you the woman he loves?" Alice opened her eyes and smiled sarcastically at the woman. "It's not that I don't want to, but Morgan told you to make breakfast." Then, Fiona pulled Alice's hand to get her up quickly. "Let go of my hand! Don't hold me. I don't want to be held by a woman who snatches people's husbands like you." Alice pushed Fiona until she fell down. "Auh... it hurts... don't hurt me, Alice. I promise I'll leave this house soon. I'm just a strange woman to you guys; I'm not going to take Morgan away from you." Hearing Fiona's screams, Morgan went into Alice's room and saw the scene of Alice pushing Fiona. "You ignorant woman, hurry up and make breakfast for me. Why did you push Fiona? Have you forgotten what I reminded you of yesterday?" Morgan was furious. "Sorry, I forgot! Who told her to come into my room and wake me up?" Alice replied haughtily. "Fine, I'll say it again: I don't love you. We can't be together in the future; get real!" "So, why did you marry me?" asked Alice, smiling sadly. "Because - "
