To the Village

I was the first to awake the next morning though morning wasn’t accurate since it was still pitch black outside. I got up and went to wake the other girls so that we could all go get washed up and changed. Once they were up we went to the hot springs washed and dressed. By the time we got back the boys were up and packing everything we had unpacked last night which wasn’t much thankfully. “Yall go wash up we will take care of the rest we don’t have much time be Tobias will be up and moving.” I said to them and they all nodded and grabbed there stuff to go bathe. Anubis and Luna were up as well so we started loading Anubis up with some of the packed items while Luna went to keep an eye out for Tobias. “Ares, Asher, and Jax have all taken there demon forms so that they can get load up.” Cameron told us as he walked back in, we nodded and got busy loading them up thankfully Luna reported that Tobias was still out cold as were the other servants. “Cameron, Jay and Rayna will ride with Asher. Lily, Seth, and Max will ride with Jax. You will be with me as will your guardians.” Ares said through a mental link. I blinked but then shrugged and hopped up onto his back the others followed suit and then we were off like a shot. By the time we had reached the village the sun had still not risen but we knew it wouldn’t be much longer now. “Do you think Tobias will try to follow us?” Lily asked as we all unloaded and Ares and the others changed back. “He won’t, if he has a role to play in what is going on he won’t want to risk showing up here and us questioning him. In fact I will bet that he will send a rider to see if we are here and then go from there. What we are going to do is mask ourselves and hide all our stuff in one of the village homes so that when the rider comes he want see us. After he returns he will tell Tobias what he didn’t find and right after that a message will arrive ordering Tobias and the other back.” Ares answered her. “How do you know that?” “We can talk about that later Max right now I want to take a quick look at the storage room Lily saw.” I said to Max who looked at me surprised but then nodded back. “Anubis, you and Luna stay here with everything we won’t be gone long.” I said to my two guardians and then we all walked to the store room. As soon as I was at the door I pushed it opened and what I found did not surprise me.

“Okay, first why did that seal not stop you, and second this doesn’t look like a library in fact it looks like a gardening shed mixed with whatever the village decided to put in here.” “Let us go to the head villagers home. We can stay there and I believe that is where we will find some answers.” Everyone was looking at me confused but I didn’t wait I just started walking and eventually I felt everyone else following me. It didn’t take long for us to grab everything and take it to the village heads house especially when we had stopped only ten feet from it when we first got there. “Okay Mira, I love you, I trust you, and you know damn well I will follow you anywhere without question but this time you need to tell me what is going on.” Rayna spoke and her tone indicated her annoyance. “Follow me upstairs really quick and I promise I will explain.” Everyone just looked at me and then we all walk upstairs and I walked into a bedroom that faced the storeroom. “Well little red?” Ares voice for some reason was patience and understanding but I didn’t have time to think on that. “Take a look out the window and tell me what do you see.” “The storeroom?” Cameron said questioningly. I just raised an eyebrow. “The seal. It can be seen perfectly from here.” Jax was the one that answered surprising everyone. “Correct.” I said and then moved to sit down. “When Lily pulled up the blueprints for the village and showed us the storage building I noticed where the village heads was located. At the time I filed it away but when we got here and I saw the building I had a hunch.” I paused taking a breath. “As we got closer to the building I kept trying to feel for the barrier around the building but I couldn’t even though I knew one had to be there. So I took a calculated risk and pushed the door open and when we saw what was in there I wasn’t surprised.” “But wait last night.” Jay said confused. “Think about this for a minute, a small village that gets a decent amount of travelers coming through your village. If your village is an information guild and the information is taken care of at what would qualify as a library full would you risk someone walking by a random store room and seeing something out of place.” Everyone seemed to realized where I was going so I continued. “No, you would hide it and put a seal on it but you would need the seal somewhere it could be seen but only by the right people.” “This room.” Lily said looking around. “As we had walked down to the building I had looked back to notice a few thing. First that there are five buildings between the one we are in and the store one. Second all five buildings are single story family homes while all the other family homes where two story. Third was that the village head home only had one window that was on this side of the building and it looked right at the storeroom and that it was on the third floor. And finally I noticed that this is the only building that has a third floor.” At this point everyone understood. “Wait I’m confused why put the seal on that building if it’s not the library?” Asher asked looking out the window. “Because at one point it was at least a part of it was. Think about this for a moment every building but that one and the five between it and this one are all older looking and single story. It’s clear the buildings have been maintained but not renovated like the other buildings have been. In fact I bet if we looked closer we would see that at one point the buildings were connected to each other.” I added. “The buildings where the library the seal was put onto the only door at the time but over time the library must have grown and the need to protect the information inside so they changed the location. But now the question is where?” Max said as he put a hand on his to think. “Did anyone noticed that on the floor of the building was a square outline cut into the wood?” I asked and I got surprised looks. “The library is underneath the village.” Ares stated. “Okay I getting a little confused so Mira explain in like we are children.” Rayna said looking at me in utter bewilderment. I gave a small laugh at that before speaking again. “The best way the villagers thought the could hide the library was to change its location but then the question became to where and I’m guessing that someone suggested to put it beneath the village but it could go beneath the whole village without risk of it collapsing in. So where better to put it then under the village heads house and stretching out towards the storeroom where the seal was placed. Once they had the library built they divided the building into six five of which became homes and I would bet those homes belong to the strongest people in the village.” I paused to make sure everyone was still following me when I got nods I continued. “I would also bet that the villagers realized that they needed two ways in to the library so one was put into the original entrance and the second is somewhere here in this building.” I said moving my hand to indicate the said building. “Okay but why would they think that?” Lily asked. But this time it was Ares that answered. “Because if there where certain events or people in town the villages head home would be open to outsiders which means that they couldn’t risk people being seen coming and going leisurely it would cause questions. So having a second opening in a high traffic building no one would look twice at it during the daylight hours.” Ares answer was on point and now it was time to confirm another theory. “Ares send for Tobias and have him bring Anessa.” I said and everyone but Ares started talking at once.
