Introductions

We had been in the tent for about an hour now when a voice spoke from outside the door. “Hey ladies you mind stepping out for a minute.” I didn’t recognize the voice but for some reason, Lily did because she said “That’s Jax.” Both Rayna and I looked at her surprised but we both decided to ask her later. We all walked out and sure enough, it was Jax. “Yes?” I asked him. “Dinner is being served under the canopy so that introductions can be made.” Jax answered and then turned around and walked to said canopy. I blinked but followed behind as did Rayna and Lily. “How surprising that they didn’t make you wait, Jax.” As soon as we stepped under the canopy that was the statement that we heard. Turning my head I saw the prince and his smug look. “Oh shit.” I heard Rayna say while out of the corner of my eye, I saw Lily just shake her head. “Prince Ares, you must be quite used to people accepting your rude statements because you are the Prince.” I say fully facing him. I didn’t need to look to know that everyone else was suddenly quiet and watching us intently. “However just because you’re a Prince does not mean you get to say whatever the f**k you want. And another you assuming things only makes an ass out of you so next time try not to.” I said before turning to everyone else. “I am Mira Ayla Solace-Stone I am the only daughter of Archduke Kain Solace and I am his investigator. If you have a problem with that or how I conduct myself and this investigation please feel free to come talk to me but do no treat me as if I am beneath any of you.” I pointedly look at Ares as I said the last part and then went and took a plate of food that Rayna held out to me. Ares said nothing but his aura was a mixer of annoyed and surprise but I didn’t care I was to irate to care. ‘We haven’t even been here a whole damn.’ I thought as I found a spot and sat down Rayna and Lily did the same. “Well let’s all finish introducing ourselves.” Asher said not even bothering to hid his grin. “I am Rayna Teal.” “I am Lily Le Fay.” “Asher Graham.” “Jax Byrne.” “Jay Summer.” “Cameron Summer.” “Max James.” “Seth Rhodes.” Around everyone went introducing themselves. I recognized the Summer surname but not the others. But I figured that I would get to know them over the course of our stay. “Lady Mira.” I had just finished eating when I heard my name called. I looked to see Jay standing in front of me. “I do apologize but I am taking a guess to say that they thought I was a boy because they place me in my brothers tent.” “ So you were wandering if you could stay with us.” I said standing up with a warm smile. “Let’s go get your stuff and your bed.” I added before she could say more and she blinked and then smiled. “Thank you.” She replied. “Yes thank you Lady Mira and I will help move everything.” Jay’s brother said giving a small smile to me. “We are happy to help.” Rayna said and Lily nodded. We left the canopy and in no time had Jay in out tent. After that the four of us decided we wanted to bath so Rayna went looking for Asher and he told her where we could go.

“Oh this feels amazing.” Jay said as she slipped into the natural hot springs. Rayna and Lily both nodded in agreement while I smiled. “Oh by the way Mira where Leland?” Lily suddenly asked. “I told him we were good to go after we got settled into the tent. So him and Onyx returned home.” I answered her then ducked under the water. It was long before we finished but I was ready to head back so I told the others to go back. ‘What do you want me to do about Anubis and Luna?’ Rayna asked through our link. ‘Nothing, they both left after we went to dinner I am sure they are out hunting and exploring the area.’ I responded back. ‘Alright, call if you need me and please be careful.’ Rayna said and then continued back down the hill. I smiled and then looked around for a second and then I saw a large oak tree. Walking to it I slowly climbed the tree even though I could get up faster by jumping I wanted to climb each branch. Once I reached an opening I sat down to look at the moon and stars. “There is Aquila and Ursa Minor.” I said out loud when I saw the two constellations and then I looked to the Polaris star the star of our family. “You shouldn’t be out alone.” I tensed at the voice and slowly turned my head to see Ares standing on another branch. Before I could say anything he spoke again. “Tell me why did Kain send you and not Kai?” He asked but again before I could say anything he continued on. “As far as I can tell you bring nothing to the table to help us. The Summer siblings bring their fox magic to help with the plants and trees. Seth a vampire brings his forward sight. Seth though a human is an alchemist. So again I ask why were you the one that was sent when to help?” The way he said help at the end of his question aggravated me. “Just because you’re the prince doesn’t mean I have to answer ya. However I will just so you don’t try to follow me around like a lost pup.” I said and then Ares moved and before I could react he had me by my throat pinned to the tree. Though he wasn’t squeezing there was enough pressure for me to know he had my throat. “You have a smart f*****g mouth for a little half-ling girl and it’s really being to piss me off.” Ares growled his eyes slowly bleeding red from his beast and his aura was flaring dangerously. “First off just because you grab my throat and pin me to a tree doesn’t mean I am intimidated by you. Second off I might be a half-ling but the only thing I lack is a beast. And third.” I said grabbing his wrist and pushed my purification power into said hand and Ares immediately let me go. “I an half priestess which means I can and will purify your princely ass if you ever do that again.” I finished before dropping from the tree. But Ares recovered faster than I expected because as soon as I stood up from the crouch I landed in he was there. I made the mistake of blinking because he slammed his hands on either side of my head blocking me against the tree. “Now that was unexpected Mira.” Ares eyes where burrowing into mine and I noticed they where no longer red but the way he said my name made a shiver go up my spine. “I have my answer though about why you where sent he. But let me make it clear don’t ever do that to me again or.” Ares paused and leaned in right next to my ear. “Daughter or no daughter of Kain I will kill you.” His words snapped me back and I replied “I’d like to see you f*****g try Ares.” I knew that even though I was trapped so long as he didn’t touch me I had no grounds to hurt him which he had seemed to notice. I thought for sure he was going to pull something but instead he dropped his arms and stepped back. “Time to go back we have an early start tomorrow oh and your pets are of course welcomed to join us and before you get pissed again I mean the hellhound and panther.” And with that last statement Ares turned and walked away like nothing happened. ‘What the hell was that?” I thought as I watched him walk away towards camp. And then thought ‘all I wanted was to look at the stars for a minute I didn’t expect all this. I shook my head and the proceeded to follow him back to camp.
