Night and Morning

Though it wasn’t late when I reached the camp I noticed how quiet it was, and when I walked into my tent I figured out why. ‘If everyone is passed out in here it must be the same in the other tents.’ I thought with a smile. Moving carefully to my bed I found that Anubis and Luna had both returned but only Anubis was awake. ‘How long have you two been back?’ I asked him as he shifted himself and Luna who was laying on top of him over so I could lie down. ‘Not long we wanted to get back to you quickly.’ I smiled at his response. Sliding in under the blanket I took Luna from his back and laid her on the pillow by my head, while he moved to lay at my feet. It didn’t take long for me to slip into sleep. I felt something nudging my face and blinking open my eyes I saw Luna sitting over me. Sitting up I saw that everyone else was still asleep. “What time is it?” I whispered to her. “The sun is just starting to rise up.” She answered and I nodded getting up out of the bed and then changed into my clothes for the day. Once dressed I walk out of the tent and head to the canopy thankful to see a bowl of water there. I walked up to it and splashed some of the water onto my face. “Isn’t that cold?” As I finished drying my face with the small towel that was there I turned to see Seth. “No it has a heat crystal beneath it to help keep it warm.” I answered him. Then I realized who I was talking to and whipped my head to where the sun was coming up. “I’m guessing you heard I was a Vampire but just to let you know I’m only a half vampire.” Seth said before I could voice concerns. “You’re a dhampir?” I asked in surprise. Seth grinned at me and I saw his fangs. “Yes, but don’t worry I am still able to use forward sight.” “Oh I wasn’t concerned about that just surprised. Most don’t admit to being dhampirs especially to people they just met.” “I see and it’s not something I care about hiding besides I have heard of you and your family and I know that you would not use it against me.” I smiled at him. “Why don’t we sit down I’m sure Tobias will be back by shortly with food. He saw me exit my tent a little before you came out.” Seth said and I nodded my head sitting down. I took a deep breath of the air is was cool and crisp. It was warmer here then it was back home but not hot which I was thankful for. “We will need to wake the others soon and get started early today I smell a storm on the wind and it will be here in a few hours.” I said after smelling the air. “You are correct Lady Mira.” Seth and I turned to see Asher. “Tobias is getting the food so do the two of you mind waking up your fellow tent occupants?” Seth and I nodded and stood heading to our tents. As I walked in I saw that Luna and Anubis where laying on the bed awake. I also saw that Rayna was up and she must have just finish getting dressed. Once I caught her eye I pointed to Lily and she nodded. “Jay.” I say after I moved over to her bed. Jay shifted just a bit but I was trying to avoid touching her as I knew Kitsunes could be violate when they get touched while sleeping. “Jay, it’s time to wake up.” I was standing at the foot of her bed and I watch her shift and then move her hand to her head. “Jay it’s Mira, it’s time to wake up.” I said one more time and I watched as she slowly opened her eyes. Then she sat up and blinked as I took a few steps back slowly making sure she wasn’t going to lash out. Jay looked up at me and I braced myself because it didn’t look like she was fully focused just yet. But then she smiled “good morning Mira.” I relaxed when she spoke and responded “ good morning Jay.” “I already know your scent so you don’t have to worry about shaking me awake.” I smiled and gave her a nod before turning away. Looking over I saw Lily was already up and changing her clothes. “Luna, Anubis.” I called and they got up and followed me out of the tent. Once outside Luna hoped up onto my shoulder as we moved back over to the canopy. A few minutes later everyone was gathered under the canopy. “With a storm coming and a limited number of servants, we may need to divide and conquer as they say.” Max was the one who said that. “And who would be the ones to stay behind and who would go to the village and beyond it for the investigation? We only have a limited number of days here before we are going to have to clear out or risk getting caught in the seasonal monsoons that hit here.” It was Ares that spoke and I had to admit I was surprised at the fact he wasn’t telling everyone what they were going to do. “Well, maybe a suggestion.” Asher said and we all looked at him. “Seth has the forward sight so we could use it to look at the village from here and record any findings with a memory crystal. And record some parts beyond the village in the forest where the blood was seen.” Asher finished. “Unfortunately that will not work.” Seth said. “Forward sight only works if I have been to the place before or if I have a connection with someone that is there in that moment otherwise it’s a no-go.” I could tell by the looks on Ares and Asher's faces that they didn’t know that. “Then it’s a good thing that we have someone you're connected to.” I said and everyone looked at me well everyone but Lily and Rayna. “Lily if you please.” I said and she walked out from under the canopy and then her wings popped out from her back. “Oh I get it now Lily is a fairy and she can fly over to the village and look around while Seth uses his forward sight to look through her eyes and we can record it.” “And while they do that along with whoever we have use the memory crystal the rest of us along with the few servants can take care of preparations for the storm.” It was Jay that spoke followed by her brother Cameron. “Max should be the one to use the crystal that way if he spots anything he thinks is important he can have Seth relay that to Lily.” Asher added. “She shouldn’t go alone.” Ares said. “Jax go with her.” He said looking towards Jax who nodded. “That is a good idea, Luna will tag along as well.” I said and Luna hopped from my shoulder to Lily’s arms. “Okay the rest of us will help get ready for the storm. Does anyone know how bad it’s going to get?” Jay asked. “Mira?” Ares called my name questioningly and I was surprised at that. Blinking I answered “We should find some shelter that can accommodate us and everything we brought with us. We should also be prepared to sleep there tonight.” Everyone nodded and then we got to work splitting up to get to work.
