Before we could continue Ares spoke again and told everyone to prepare for breakfast as the sun had been up for awhile and everyone’s stomach was starting to make noise. I managed to take a few bites but with the story on my mind, it was difficult to have an appetite. “Mira whatever it is not eating your food isn’t going to help.” Rayna said setting a hand on my shoulder and I knew she was right. So I tried to eat a little bit more though it still wasn’t much. After a while everyone seemed to have had their fill and Ares gave me another pointed look. I sighed but nodded as I knew that the story would need both of us. “In the times of the dark and bloody wars appeared two magnificent creatures. They were dragons but they were bigger, faster, and stronger than the dragons we had seen before. It was said that these two could take on humanoid form the only giveaway was the solid red eyes.” “The dragons had a power that had never been seen before it was called the dark flame. A flame of black fire that could kill those who caused pain or bring life to a desolate land. These two wanted peace to help save the Dragon race but the power they possessed only caused more fighting.” “Then strange shadows started appearing as people started disappearing. And a holy sect appeared and blamed the dark flame of the dragons so they began spreading a light so bright it hurt. The two dragons realizing that the holy sect would destroy the earth knew that they needed to act but they couldn’t risk using their power without help.” “So the dragons found two people, two demons that only wanted to protect those they love, and granted them the power. To do this the dragons had to bond with the demons and in doing so lost the ability to take human form again. But it was a fair price to pay in their minds if it meant ending the war.” “After that, the two demons came together and managed to end the war and crowned a new king. But the holy sect was furious because the people who had turned to them were beginning to see that the dragons were destroying the shadows not creating them. So the holy sect decided to strike against the two.” “The smaller of the two flames was ambushed and they almost managed to kill her but her partner arrived in time to stop the killing blow. The holy sect was taken prisoner and the new king demanded answers. The holy sect said that the monsters are the cause of our blights we must kill them if we are to survive. They then demanded that everyone turn toward the light the light will kill these monsters and allow us to live.” “The partner of the injured dragon was furious and spoke up saying no you are wrong and utterly foolish if you believe that only light is good and that we only need light. The world must have balance or death and destruction with reign. To have good we must have evil, to have light we must have darkness. And finally, to have free will we must have chaos. To sacrifice one is to sacrifice the other but you know nothing of balance only of what you foolishly believe and that will be our destruction, not our salvation.” “The holy sect refused to listen so they were banished to the far reaches of the world dying off as they did. And the dragons were given a sanctuary to live out their lives in peace though still connected to their partners and told them should the world ever need us again we will come for you and your aid for we are one now and forever. And with that the two dragons were never seen again still closed away until they were called upon.” Ares and I took turns telling the story as everyone looked and listened to us. “That message must be pointing to something involving that story but the question is what and why.” Max said as he brought his chin to rest on his hand thinking deeply. “Your Highness.” Anessa called out and waited for Ares to look at her. “Do you think that our family and the rest of the villagers are still alive?” Anessa was trying to control herself but it was clear that she was anxious and worried. “Unless I get proof otherwise yes I still believe they are. Even if they did manage to get the door open I am sure that the information they find would be useless without someone to decode it.” I watched Anessa and Tobias blink at that apparently they hadn’t considered that the elders of the village wouldn’t code the information to keep it protected. “Ares is correct and I am going to make a suggestion but everyone needs to agree before we do it.” I paused and everyone nodded for me to continue. “We should leave in the morning and head back to the palace. While Tobias and Anessa take all the information that is in the library to Aysu where they and the information will be safe but they should leave tonight just before the storm hits so that if anyone is watching us they won’t see them leave.” I finished and waited though it wasn’t long. “We will do it your grace.” Tobias said and Anessa nodded followed by agreements from the others. “But how are they going to go with all that information?” Seth asked. “Leave that to me but we need to hurry we only have three hours.” I said with a smile.
