Attacked

“Do you know where they put Seth and Max?” I asked after I finished washing my body off and then moving into the spring. “I do, Cameron found that out just before I came here and told me that they were placed on this floor but on the opposite side.” She answered. “But to be honest I’m surprised as this floor is only supposed to be for the Archduke and then the Four Dukes.” She added. “It’s probably because our floor has a library, a conference room, and a few extra bedrooms that are solemnly used for anyone. And it would make more sense to have us all close together so that no information is leaked out.” I answered her and she blinked then smiled and nodded. “You're right.” Jay said smiling at me. Rayna and Lily joined us and we all sat back and just relaxed enjoying the water. “Oh I apologize I forgot to ask where are Anubis and Luna?” Jay suddenly spoke and I lifted my head to look at her. “They’re in my suite Anubis and Luna both take their smallest forms when we travel inside a carriage to make it more comfortable. Luna was on my shoulder as we walked here and Anubis was in the bag that I was carrying.” I told her and she gave a laugh and said I should have figured that. We went back to silence after that and then before long we all decided to get out. As we finished getting dressed after drying off I made plans for us to meet Jay before we all went down so that we could go together. I was the last to leave the bathing chamber and had sent the others on without me as I had to brush my hair out from the bun I had placed it in. Once done I walked out to head back to the suite when I got an eerie feeling like I was being watched. And then I heard a barely audible growl sound though I couldn’t tell from where. Then suddenly I felt myself get shoved to the ground very hard. I managed to roll myself back to my feet as soon as I hit it and when I looked up and I screamed dodging out of the way, of a vicious-looking axe came down. Slamming against the wall as the axe connected with the floor I got a look at ferocious green eyes under a dark green hood. I was so stunned by what was happening that I didn’t react fast enough to avoid the swipe of a foot hitting me in the side and I was sent flying and then rolling across the floor. I looked up to see the hooded figure pulling the axe from the floor but before he could move towards me door where flying open and shouts were coming from them along with the people that were shouting. “What the hell oh my goddesses Mira are you alright?” Jay screamed running to me but I didn’t take my eyes off the figure who had paused and looked at everyone who at this point realized someone was there. I also watched as the figure took everyone in and, clearly, debated on trying to take us all on until a shout from the stairs reached our ears. The figure turned to see what we saw were armed guards coming up the stairs. Just as the guards reached the top the figure having apparently decided that this was now a failed attack immediately launched himself out of the nearest window. “Quickly after them. We cannot let them escape hurry.” I heard the shouts of the guards but I didn’t move or register anything but watching the window where my attacker had fled through. “Ra, Mira.” I knew someone was calling my name but I felt frozen. “MIRA.” I was suddenly grabbed and shook as my name was shouted and I finally managed to break free from my shock and looked to see Rayna kneeling in front of me holding my shoulders and looking horrified. “It was him.” Was all I said as I got to my feet with help from Rayna and Seth. “What is going on?” I didn’t look at Ares who had appeared followed by Asher, Jax, and others I didn’t recognize. “Mira was attacked and oh s**t Mira your bleeding.” Seth had answered and then added as he was suddenly pressing his hand more into my back. I hadn’t even known I was injured, hell I still didn’t even feel it. But before anyone could say or do anything Ares was suddenly there and lifting me up to carry me to the conference room shouting “Someone get the medic here now.” I simply let him. “Mira, you said it was him what did you mean?” Rayna asked again after Ares sat me down on the table. “The man standing on the hill that was him.” “But oh do you know that you told us you never saw his face in the dream.” Lily was the one who responded back. “I don’t know I just know that it was him and that he will try again.” I informed her and then the medic was there telling everyone to get out but everyone refused to leave wanting to stay with me until finally Ares told everyone to get out but when the medic said he needed to leave as well he said. “No treat her with me here and don’t argue.” “It’s fine.” I said when the medic went to just that. He blinked but nodded and then had me turn around so he could see my back. I didn’t even feel it as he treated my wounds I was too focused on what had just happened and what it could mean. “I don’t know what is happening but whatever it is, it is getting dangerous.” Ares said after I was treated and the others had returned. “Yes but why attack Mira alone after coming out of the bath why not wait until after everyone retires for the night?” Max asked. “Because they wanted her gone before dinner before she saw the king but the question is why?” Cameron said. “That is another piece of the puzzle we will have to figure out for now father has canceled the event for tonight so I will have the servants bring food here. After that, I suggest we all get some sleep so that at dawn we can start looking for more clues.” Ares answered before turning and walking away. “Wait.” I called and he paused turning his head back to me. “Can everyone give us the room again for a minute?” I asked and everyone looked at each other but then nodded and walked past Ares and out the door. Ares turned back to me and waited. “ I am sorry for earlier I shouldn’t have done what I did or said those things. I was wrong and I am sorry for that.” I told him and he blinked surprised before sighing. “Mira that could have waited until.” “No, it couldn’t. Just because I was attacked moments ago does not mean I get a pass for acting like I did.” I said interrupting him and he blinked again followed by another sigh before finally nodding his head. “Apology accepted.” “Same here.” He gave a small laugh at that and nodded again before turning back to the door. “Goodnight Mira.” He said as he walked out and then Rayna came back in and sat down followed by everyone but Asher, and Jax. “Well then.” Was all Rayna said.
