Nightmares and Arguments

Not long after Mira came back she was asleep on her bed and I was I had not yet fallen asleep but I was just starting to doze off when Mira started tossing around. I blinked and looked over at her, to see her tossing and turning and what sounded like small whimpers. I was surprised and got up to check on her. I noticed that she had tears streaming down and I was confused but before I could wake her she shot up gasping for breath. “Hey hey, easy it’s okay your safe. Take deep breaths that’s it there you go.” I grabbed her shoulders trying to calm her down. “You are safe it's okay.” I repeated and she seemed to slowly calm down but she was still crying. “Ares?” She said my name questioningly and I just nodded. Then I was caught off guard by her throwing herself in my chest and clinging to me crying into my chest. Thinking of what I would do if it was my little sister I put my arms around her and held her to me. “Please don’t leave me.” She said crying and I was surprised but I didn’t say anything I just picked her up brought her over to my bed and laid her down. “Roll over,” I said to her and she did as I asked rolling to the wall. I laid down behind her, put one arm under her head as a pillow, and wrapped my other arm around her pulling her back to me. It didn’t take long and she was back asleep though I wasn’t sure she had even been fully awake to begin with. Not long after I drifted off as sleep claimed me wrapped up in her sweet scent.

I woke up to something tickling my nose and when I opened my eyes all I saw was red. Turned out to be Mira’s red hair I pulled my head back and realized I must have buried my face into her hair. “If you're awake now can you please let me go.” I blinked and realized Mira was awake and trapped. “Here.” I said unwrapping my arms from her body. As soon as my arms were gone she was up. “Thank you for that.” I raised an eyebrow not sure why should would thank me for that. “For last night I know I wasn’t fully awake but I still remember what happened or at least I have a general idea.” She looked me in the eye but she was blushing. “You're welcome besides why wouldn’t I want a pretty little thing like you in my bed.” Her eyes widened but then narrowed and even though the blush was still there she was now annoyed. “I’ll say it again you’re an ass.” She then turned around to grab her clothes but for the same reason, I wanted to keep picking on her. So in a flash, I was behind her pulling her hips to press backwards into me. “Ahh.” She let out a surprised noise as I did it. “You know you really shouldn’t turn your back on a dangerous situation.” I growled into her ear but apparently she was done being played with. “Get off of me!” She shouted and shoved me backward with more force than I was expecting because I slammed into the wall. “Fuck.” I grunted as I got up. “You pompous asshole.” She growled and I narrowed my eyes at her. “Watch what you say.” I told her but she only growled. “No f**k you. You are the crown prince but that doesn’t mean you can do whatever the hell you want when you want to who you want. Or maybe you don’t understand that you can’t do that or maybe you feel like you can and screw whatever anyone thinks or says.” “Mira.” I growled warning but she didn’t seem to care. “No you don’t get to growl because someone is finally standing up to if you can’t handle it then don’t act like a damn prick. Just because you’re the crown prince you expect me to bow well forget it your highness, your future sword doesn’t see a great future king, she just sees an arrogant bastard.” I grabbed her throat as soon as she finished and pinned her to the wall. “Listen you little brat.” But any other words I said died on my lips as a shearing pain ripped through my hand. I released her as I stepped back clutching my hand. “You forget I can use holy aura and burn your ass your highness so next time you try that prince or not I will kill you.” We were growling and snarling at each other, my beast was ready to come out and put the girl in her place. ‘She needs to learn to show some respect to those above her.’ My beast growled in my head and I was sorely tempted to let him out so that she would learn her place. “Enough both of you.” Suddenly Rayna and Asher where in-between us with Asher facing me and Rayna facing her. “Move.” Both me and Mira said to them ready to pounce. “Mira, if I move then you better stay put or I am calling Kai.” Rayna said and I registered Mira tensing at her words before she started reining herself back in. “Ares please calm down or you will destroy the house.” I looked at him then spun on my heel and headed forbthe door. “I will see you all back at the castle I’m going on ahead.” And with that I was gone letting my beast take over for the turn and to get us far away as possible.

Hours later I found myself sitting on a river bank next to a field of destroyed trees that didn’t with stand my rage, when I sensed someone come towards me and they where making sure I knew. I didn’t move as whoever it was appeared behind me. “Your very fast you highness but luckily for me you left an obvious trail.” I turned my head slightly to see Lily. “Asher and Jax tried to follow you but you are very fast and you hid your scent and aura so they were not able to tell which direction you went. However I am able to fly so it was easy to spot your trail.” She explained my unspoken question. “You are aware how dangerous it is to approach an enraged dog demon?” I questioned surprised that she would come. “And shouldn’t you be with your lady?” I added my voice in a sneer as I said the second one. “First Rayna is taking care of Mira, she is more suited to deal with Mira when she is angered. Second it took me a little while to catch up and find you once I did I went to a large Mahogany tree that was about three miles away to let you calm down, once you did I flew over.” She answered me but I could tell there was more so I waited. “Not long after you left the carriages arrived for everyone so Asher and Jax got everyone and everything loaded and are on their way back to the palace. Their almost here if you want then to stop and grab us.” I was surprised she knew this but I decided to not care and simply nodded in agreement. “Did you know she was going to have nightmares is that why you pushed about her sleeping in the room?” I asked her as I stood. “Not exactly. You see Mira’s dreams are sometimes visions or premonitions depending on how clear it comes to her. The problem is that sometimes these scenes are frightful. Mira hadn’t any since the night before we left home but we knew there was a chance they would come back and we were right when she said that she was going to meditate instead of sleep. So thanks for helping with that.” I gave a single nod. And then the carriages were there. “Ah good timing.” She said and then we loaded up and were off heading home.
