A New Life

“She will be the one to go to Archduke Kain.” The alpha had stated at a pack meeting. My aunt and uncle had frozen and even though they did not want it, it had been an alpha order and they were unable to refuse. So, I began preparing to go to Archduke Kain, a ruthless Dog Demon. The day came for me to leave. “Alpha.” I greeted, with my head bowed. “Remember you are going there to be whatever the Archduke wants you to be so do not bring shame or disgrace upon this pack which means if he decides to kill you, you will accept the death with as much grace as you humans can have and pray for a swift one if that is what he decides.” The alpha’s words did not affect me, but they most definitely affected my aunt and uncle who had to control themselves. “Hmm I would not be surprised if he decided to kill her as soon as she steps out of the carriage.” It was Alpha’s oldest daughter who had spoken this time though I still did not speak. “I hope he takes his time.” She added, giving me a vicious smile. Again, I did not reply, at least not verbally, instead I rolled my eyes at her. And as the carriage came to a stop before us, I remembered something my aunt had said the night before and decided to speak up. “Rather he decides to kill me or not it is not really any of your business, but I am glad that either way I will be gone before I see you run this pack into the ground. I might be twelve but even I know how much of a w***e you are already at the age of seventeen.” I finished my comment with a smirk and then turned to get into the waiting carriage. “You f*****g bitch.” I heard and turned around to see Marissa trying to attack me, but she was stopped by being snatched by her throat. “You might be the Alpha’s daughter but even you cannot touch his excellency charge. She belonged to him the moment your father sent her name to him. So...” The man that had grabbed Marissa pulled her to him his hand tightening on her throat in the process and his eyes flashing red continued. “If you want to live and not be beaten to death, I suggest you keep your hands to yourself whore.” The man then threw her away and Marissa flew slamming into a tree before sliding down though she had remained conscience she did not move from her spot. “The charge spoke truthfully Dean; I would recommend you find another to succeed you, but you werewolves do what you want. Come pup this pack is not worth our time.” The man said turning to go to the carriage as Alpha Dean grabbed his daughter up and took her to the pack doctor. “Wait please.” My aunt spoke, her head bowed. “Who are you....” “She is my aunt may I say goodbye to her and my uncle the alpha would not let them give me away instead he was going to make them watch as I left without being able to say goodbye,” I spoke up immediately and then bowed my head hoping I was not punished for speaking out of turn. “Of course.” The man replied and leaned against the carriage. I blinked, looking up at him but not wanting to jinx myself I turned and launched myself at them. “Goodbye, my little one I will miss you so much.” My uncle said as he hugged both me and as well. And I will miss yall too.” I said letting them go, Cora and Colton are twins, and my cousins. They traveled a lot for the pack and unfortunately were not here now. “Of course, my child.” My aunt said before kissing my cheeks. “Please take care and remember we love you so much.” She added as she and my uncle stepped back. I nodded to them before turning back to the carriage. Seeing the man from before he offered his hand out to me I took it as I stepped up onto the carriage. The man followed me in and sat down across from me before knocking on the wall behind his head. “Let us be off Leland.” He said and then to me. “Hold on tight.” I blinked, surprised, and confused but before I could do anything I felt the carriage shift and I had just enough time to grab onto the handle beside the door before we were off. Once the carriage settled out, I slowly released my grip. “Look out the window.” The man said. Doing as he said I looked out to see we were flying and then I went a step farther and opened the window and looked out to see how we were flying as only the most rich could afford the animals that could fly and even if our pack had the money for said animals I would have never been able to experience it. “Dragons.” I said happily, surprised. “You do not need to be afraid.” The man said. “Oh, I am not afraid I’m excited I have always wanted to see a dragon so please do not worry about me sir.” I replied as I sat back and closed the window. “Dixon.” He spoke. I looked at him. “My name is Dixon not sir. I am Archduke Kain’s third in command or gamma, but you Lady Mira can just call me Dixon please never be formal with me.” “Lady but Sir... I mean Dixon I am just a human that was traded as an offering to his excellency I am nothing compared......” “I will not argue with you young one so I will call you Miss Mira but never again say you are nothing.” The look in Dixon’s eye left no room for debate so I merely nodded and settled back against my seat. Before long I felt myself dowsing off.
