Chapter 13 - Evil

"We're heading to the mansion today, Kuya Bobs. I'll stay there tonight." Kuya Bobs simply shook his head, hesitant, but he had no choice except to keep driving. We headed straight to the mansion instead of Isles' house. He wants a future wife who'll do everything he wants? Then that's clearly not me! They almost refused to let us in and even blocked our car from entering. If I hadn't insisted, I probably wouldn't have been able to set foot inside. Unfortunately, it was Dad's order! Apparently, he'd instructed them not to let me in if I came here without Isles. I really can't believe him. How could he do that to his own daughter?! Getting me banned from our own house? I got out of the car and took off my sunglasses. My long, wavy hair danced with the wind as I marched toward the porch. The only sounds around me were the clicks of my heels, the evening insects, and the strong wind. Dad wasn't at the mansion. According to Alfred, he was on a business trip in Cebu. Which meant I'd have the whole mansion to myself. "I'll set up a picnic by the pool," I said calmly. "But, Ma'am Nat..." "Don't worry, Manang. I'll handle Dad myself, and I'll make sure none of you get dragged into this." Dad wouldn't find out unless someone told him. Besides, I grew up here. This is where I learned to walk, where I ran around as a child. How come I'm banned from this place? The sky was slowly growing darker, and the air was beginning to turn cold. I hadn't even been in my room at the mansion for long when my phone started ringing. I raised an eyebrow when I saw Isles calling. His name in my contacts was jerk. I didn't answer. I'm going to do the exact opposite of what he wants and see how much he can take. I'm not going back to his house. I'm never going back there. I picked out a beautiful two-piece bikini. I chose a wine-red one with an elegant design. Daring but elegant. The top was just enough to accentuate my chest. I decided to go for a swim and cool off in the pool. I need to clear my mind. I went downstairs wearing a cover-up. The maids silently watched me, clearly wondering what I was planning this time. "Cold drinks, Manang. Nothing too strong, please. Thank you..." "Yes, Ma'am," she replied, scratching the back of her head. I headed straight to the pool. I had a mat spread out at the edge and asked them to bring me the fruits I wanted. "Do you need anything else, Ma'am Nathalia?" Yes. I want Isles out of my life. I smiled at the maid. "Nothing else. Thank you." "Alright, Ma'am..." She was about to leave, but before she could walk away, I called after her. "Please, don't tell anyone I'm here. I want to be alone and relax today." Once she left and I was finally alone by the edge of our massive swimming pool, I let out a deep breath. A cool breeze brushed against my skin, sending my hair dancing in the wind. From here, I had a clear view of the beautiful sunset. I immediately slipped into the pool and soaked for a while. I wet my hair, and when I came back up, nothing felt colder than the wind brushing against my cheeks, neck, and shoulders. I heard my phone ringing from my picnic setup. I picked it up and saw that Isles was calling again. He must've gotten home already and was looking for someone to annoy again! I answered the call and rested my head against the edge of the pool. "What do you need from me, Mr. Privello? Are you so addicted to me now?" "Where are you?" he asked instead of answering me. I swallowed at the sound of his voice. His voice over the phone is... something. "Where are you this time, again?" His deep voice sounded much gentler over the phone, and I'm not... liking it. "Living my life. Stop bothering me," I insisted. He let out a heavy sigh. I could already picture him closing his eyes, rubbing his temples, and trying to be patient. If there's one thing I like, it's seeing him on the verge of giving up. If I can't stop Dad from making me marry Isles, then I'll stop Isles himself. Dad won't be able to do anything if he's the one who backs out. Problem solved! "I don't have time for your stubbornness, Nathalia. Will you stop making everything hard?" "What do you need?" I asked through gritted teeth. If the water weren't so cold, I would've exploded from irritation again. "So you're not going to tell me where you are? Want to play hide-and-seek with me? Fine, we'll play then," he said, making me uneasy. "W-What? I'm not playing with you!" "Yes, you are. Don't act clueless—" I hung up and tossed my phone aside instead of listening to another one of his insults. I calmed myself down and went back to relaxing. I took my frustration out by swimming. I was so tempted to call my friends and invite them over, but Dad would probably make things even worse. I'm already banned from this place, and I'd still be bringing friends over. I sat comfortably on my little picnic setup, set down the book I was reading, and put on my sunglasses because of the strong wind. I watched the sunset while peacefully eating my grapes. I leaned back on my hands and let the breeze brush against my skin. "So, this is what freedom means to you?" A baritone voice spoke from somewhere nearby. I thought I was hearing things. But when I looked up, my lips nearly parted when I saw Isles on the opposite side of the swimming pool. He had just arrived, and the moment our eyes met, I didn't miss the way his gaze swept over my entire body. He's wearing his usual attire: a long-sleeved shirt that hugged his muscles in all the right places, formal trousers, and that arrogant black blazer of his. I caught his eyes lingering on me. He stared, and I clearly saw his Adam's apple bob. I slowly adjusted my sitting position, forgetting all about the grape I was eating. What the hell? What is he doing here?! "Isles? What are you doing here?!" I asked with a frown. He walked toward the pool. With his height and posture, I almost found myself staring. I hate to admit he's fine as hell! "Come home," he said, looking at me seriously. I froze, insult washing over me. What am I? A child he can order home whenever he wants? I don't even live there to begin with! I took off my sunglasses and glared at him. "What's your problem? Can't you stand that I'm not at your house?" Instead of looking offended, he actually seemed amused by what I said. I simply shook my head and stubbornly stayed by the pool. I put my sunglasses back on. I tried not to flinch in front of him. He still didn't move to leave, so I smirked and looked back at him. I even softened my expression just to piss him off. "Enjoying the view too much? I thought you were mad at me, but it seems like you can't take your eyes off my body..." I remarked, noticing how he couldn't stop staring. He lifted his gaze to my face, and I clearly saw his jaw tighten. I held Isles' gaze. In the end, I was the one who looked away because he refused to back down. "Oh, well, don't waste your time here. I'm not going with you because even if we were the last two people left on earth, I would never marry you!" I swept my hair back, dusted off my hands, and stood up. I grabbed a small towel, and when I looked back at Isles, I saw how hard he was trying not to let his gaze roam over my body. I walked around the pool and approached Isles. My time has come. It's time to get back at him. I never wanted to see him here, and I certainly didn't expect him to come looking for me, but the universe might just be giving me the opportunity... I smirked at the thought. When we stood face-to-face, I deliberately swept my hair behind my back and crossed my arms in front of him, making my cleavage more noticeable. I let out a sigh, pretending to feel sorry as I took off my sunglasses. "Sorry... I'm all out of grapes and drinks. Are you thirsty?" I asked, feigning concern. Isles' eyes stayed locked on mine. His lips parted slightly as he pressed his tongue against the inside of his cheek and raised a brow at my act. It felt like we were competing to see who would give in first. The irritation he brings crawls under my skin. He's the one who should be banned from this mansion, not me! I smirked even more, ignoring the cold despite the strong wind and my wet body. "I suggest you get out of here and find somewhere else to have your drink. I know there's a water station nearby. It might also help cool that temper of yours." I flashed another sweet smile before putting my sunglasses back on and rolling my eyes at him. I was about to march away and leave him when he stopped me and pulled me back. "What's your problem?" I asked, turning to glare at Isles, only to be shocked when he pulled me closer, and before I even realized it, he captured me in a deep kiss. My eyes widened in shock, and I froze where I stood. It took me several long seconds before I even realized he was kissing me! His palm cradled the back of my head. He claimed my lips in a deep kiss. I shut my eyes at the movement of his lips against mine, but it wasn't long before I pushed him away and slapped him! "What the hell, Isles?!" I asked, shocked and furious. I took off my sunglasses and shoved him again! He barely budged. He bit his lower lip after I slapped him. I stepped back as he wiped the blood from his lip. He brushed it away with his knuckle, and I knew it hurt! But he deserved that! He looked up at me and pointed behind me. "Watch your step." I didn't listen to him, and it was already too late because I'd forgotten we were standing right at the edge of the pool. My foot found nothing beneath it, and I lost my balance! I screamed in surprise, but fortunately Isles reacted quickly. He caught my hand, keeping me from falling completely into the pool! "Gosh!" I screamed while holding onto his hand, but it wasn't enough to pull myself back up and regain my balance! "What are you waiting for? Pull me up!" I said nervously, especially when our eyes met and I saw the slow grin spreading across his face. Like he was planning something evil!
