Chapter 12 - Stubborn Fiancée

1860 Words
I was too lost in the music and the man I was dancing with. I was so drunk and sleepy that I didn't even notice the details. I didn't even realize I was no longer at the bar and was already lying in a bed. I woke up in a soft, large bed. If the sunlight hadn't hit my face, I probably wouldn't have moved yet. I frowned and squeezed my eyes shut even more. The sunlight was blindingly bright. The familiar scent of a man's cologne greeted me as I hugged the blanket. My forehead creased even more. Was I really that drunk that I could still smell his cologne even after waking up? When I opened my eyes and looked around, I realized I wasn't in my own room, much less in my own bed. I blinked and quickly sat up. I grabbed my aching head after moving so suddenly. My head hurts so much, and every time I open my eyes, I feel lightheaded, like the whole room is spinning. My hangover is so bad! Before I could recover from the pounding headache and dizziness, I heard what sounded like a door closing. Someone stepped out of the bedroom's bathroom, and I immediately looked up. My jaw practically dropped when I saw the familiar figure, the last person I expected to see at that moment. It was Isles. He had just come out of the bathroom, drying his wet hair with a towel. He wasn't wearing a shirt, only gray pants. His tall frame towered over the bed I was on, making my lips part in shock. He stopped drying his hair when he saw that I was awake, and our eyes met. I couldn't help letting my gaze wander over him. Why does he have to walk around shirtless every damn time?! My eyes unconsciously traced the lines of his well-built body. I quickly looked away before my gaze drifted lower than it should. Isles' broad shoulders shifted as he tossed the towel onto the couch. I followed him with my eyes, still unable to process that he was really standing in front of me. What happened?! Why is he here?! "Good. You're finally awake. You made my body ache all night." My eyes widened at what he said, and I glared at him. "W-What do you mean? What happened? W-Why am I here? Why are we together?!" "What do you think?" was all he said, his grin growing wider. "What do you mean? Why am I in your room?!" "You don't remember? What a shame." I followed him with my eyes. "What am I doing here? The last thing I remember, I was with Matt last night! Did you kidnap me?" I accused as I quickly got out of bed. He answered with a laugh. "Come on, Nathalia. I have no intention of kidnapping you." "Then what am I doing here? Why are we together? Don't tell me I came to you because that's impossible!" I looked for my things. I'm still wearing the same clothes I wore last night. When I looked at the clock, it was already seven in the morning. I looked around the room and realized we were in the master bedroom. In his house... the same house I had walked out of! The room is spacious and empty. There aren't any decorations or anything else. Just a mix of white, gray, and black. Above the headboard hung a painting, a painting of Lady Justice: a blindfolded woman holding a sword in her right hand and scales in her left. Isles still didn't answer me. I walked around the bed and approached him. I didn't care if my hair was a mess or if my makeup had smudged. I needed answers! "What am I doing here in your room? What did we do? Did you do anything?!" Isles looked at me with a trace of amusement in his eyes. He continued getting dressed as if there wasn't a woman standing right in front of him. "Are you accusing me, Miss Nathalia?" "Just answer the question. Why are we together? Where's Matteo?" "I don't know. Weren't you two together last night? Why are you asking me?" he said seriously. My eyes narrowed as I realized something. So he knew I was with Matt? I was dancing with Matt last night. I'm sure of it! There's no way Matt would've let me go unless I was the one who wanted to leave! I looked at Isles accusingly. "You came to me last night? How did you find me? How did you know where I was, and what did you want from me, huh?" I asked one question after another. How did he bring me home? Did he talk to Esekia? Did they see him? "Did you talk to Matt? I'm sure we were together last night!" I continued. He had already turned his back to me and was looking for something in the closet. His bare back was facing me. "Why won't you answer me? What—" "I don't know about your boys, Nathalia Amaris," he answered flatly. My lips parted. That's foul! For his information, I don't have boys. I'm not leading anyone on, and whatever could've been a good relationship with Matt was already ruined because of one huge mistake. "If you're so desperate to talk to him, then go talk to him. Then apologize because you weren't together the whole night. Fair enough?" he said, dripping with sarcasm. "What do you mean? We were together last night. We were dancing and having the best time of our lives! Don't tell me you ruined it again?" I asked in disbelief. He answered with nothing but a grin, as though I had said something ridiculous. I froze at his reaction. I felt something twist in my stomach. "W-Was it you?" I asked quietly, trying to remember what had happened. Isles closed the closet and faced me. He was so tall that I had to tilt my head up to meet his eyes. He looked at me and raised a brow. His annoying dimples showed with his grin. He didn't say a word. He tilted his head to the side and watched me, one hand resting on the closet door. His eyes were fixed on my lips as if they were the only thing that mattered. "You danced with me?" I asked. "I didn't," he denied. "Yes, you did! You were grinding against me, and you—" "Oh. Did I?" he asked mischievously. "You touched me and..." I swallowed as something came back to me. "We kissed?" Both his brows lifted. "We didn't." I didn't take my eyes off him. I'm sure he's lying. Why would he admit it? That he kissed me when he keeps saying he's angry with me? That he hates me? "I mean, we didn't just kiss. We f****d all night." He followed that with a grin before walking past me toward the bedroom door. I was left speechless, staring at the spot where he had just been standing. "What did you say?" I asked as I turned to face him. "You're lying! We didn't!" "What do you want to know?" he asked seriously, his voice rough. "I came to get you because that's what your father wanted. Now your things are here, and you'll be living here from now on. No more clubbing starting today." "What?" I asked hysterically, staring at him in disbelief. "I have class at eight. We'll talk later," he said instead of answering my question. Before walking out the door, he looked back at me. "If I were you, I wouldn't waste my energy trying to escape. It won't do anything. I'll be home later, and I want you to be here. If not..." "If not what?" I asked irritably. "We'll see..." He smirked before finally leaving. He was telling the truth. My things were already here, in the other room where I had slept the last time I stayed in this house. I got myself ready because, just like him, I had class too. I feel groggy! After taking a shower and getting dressed, I went downstairs to the living room. Isles was already gone. My eyes landed on the food on the table. I saw a note beside it. I picked it up and read it. Have some breakfast, party girl. It was nice dancing with you. My face heated up after reading it. It was probably another one of his insults. But then, he's not denying it... which means it really was him! I crumpled the paper and threw it away. I sat down and ate the food because there wasn't anything else to eat. If there had been, I wouldn't have touched anything he prepared. He'd probably use it against me later. While eating, I couldn't stop thinking about what happened last night. I shook my head. I have to stop thinking about it! I finished my meal and left. I called our driver, Kuya Bobs, to pick me up, and he arrived right away. I looked at my phone while riding in the car, planning to text Matt. I wanted to apologize for last night. I know it must've felt like I rejected him, and it was rude of me to suddenly leave him on the dance floor. I'd been deleting and rewriting the message for a while. I also wanted to know what had really happened last night, whether he'd talked to Isles, whether he already knew what happened. To Matteo: Hey! Good morning. I want to say sorry about last night. And I just want to ask who picked me up? It didn't take long before he replied. From Matteo: Didn't you go home by yourself? Esekia and her friends left after midnight. You were already gone earlier. And don't worry about that, Nat. No prob. Does that mean they really didn't see Isles? I thanked him and didn't ask anything else. Just thinking about Isles was giving me a headache when I shouldn't even be thinking about him anymore. I'm sure it's just one of his tricks! After class, I went to the spa. I lay there comfortably, trying to relax, but no matter how comfortable I was, my mind wouldn't stop wandering. The last time I checked my phone, I saw Esekia's message asking when I was going to introduce her to Isles. Now I'm starting to think about it. How am I supposed to get someone as busy and grumpy as Isles to go on a date? But Esekia is beautiful. She's exactly the kind of girl Isles likes. He'll like Esekia... What Isles told me that morning came back to me. "I'll be home later, and I want you to be here." And what exactly is he going to do if I don't? A sweet smile spread across my face at the thought. You want a potential wife, Isles? Then I'll be your stubborn fiancée. I'll give you such a headache that you'll be the one telling Dad you can't take it anymore, and you'll be the one who gives up...
