Scarlett’s POV

Trey widens his eyes. For a moment, I hope he would remember me. But then he looks at me with a furrow. When he sees Jiro stopping next to me, breathless, Trey chuckles. The werewolf king must have just arrived in Arkaley right after the battle. I peek to the right where a room’s door is ajar. I can see Sania and Darilus exiting the room together. The meeting must have just been over.
“Is the Enchantress of Tollyria playing hard to get?” he asks. Trey’s eyes travel between Jiro and me. Then he sniffs the air. His eyes lock into Jiro. “You have a wolf inside of you.”
That’s it. Just like that, Trey no longer sees me as important enough for his attention. He doesn’t remember me. He doesn’t know me. He is more interested in the wolf inside of Jiro’s body.
