Chapter 4 Find Her!

700 Words
While heading out of the mansion, Amelia checked her phone's map. With the company at least six miles away, reaching it within half an hour seemed like an impossible feat. Even if she considered taking a cab, the security of this villa area wouldn't let any in. It felt like a blatant setup to force her departure. Engrossed in her thoughts on how to resolve this predicament, Amelia unwittingly found herself in the middle of the road. A car honked sharply, causing her to spin around to see a vehicle coming to a halt before her. A few seconds later, Mars stepped out. "Why are you alone? Did Clay leave you here?" In a rush, Amelia pleaded, "Mr. Kingsley, can you help me? Clay asked me to arrive at the company by 9, but I couldn't get a ride!" Mars grasped the situation almost instantly. "Get in! I'll take you there." When they were finally a block away from the company, Amelia got out early to avoid Clay seeing her arrive in Mars' car. "Thank you!" she thanked him through the car window. Mars offered a gentle smile. "Hang in there, Jenny! My brother is not the easiest person to deal with." Turning the corner and sighting the Kingsley Group building, Amelia breathed a sigh of relief and proceeded forward. "Sorry, but without an employee ID, I can't let you in." The security blocked her at the entrance, but there were only five minutes to 9. Amelia panicked and pleaded, "You must let me in! I am Mr. Clay Kingsley's w - no, assistant!" She tried to assert her new role when she remembered Clay's instruction not to disclose their marriage. "What's going on?" A familiar voice chimed in. Amelia turned, surprised to meet Mars' gaze. She hadn't realized Mars had accompanied her to the company. Mars sternly addressed the security, "This lady is the newly hired executive assistant of our company, Ms. Jenny Hugh. How dare you treat her with such disrespect!" Understanding his mistake instantly, the security apologized profusely, "I'm sorry, Mr. Kingsley. It's my fault." He then respectfully opened the door and stepped aside. "Please come in." Inside the elevator, Amelia covertly observed Mars, who was standing beside her. The cool lighting accentuated his noble aura. His hair was impeccably styled, and his handsome face was once again covered by gentleness. His perfectly-shaped lips added an extra hint of charm, and the white shirt he wore was without a single wrinkle. Without witnessing it herself, Amelia couldn't associate the man before her with the stern one she had just seen. Besides, since their first meeting, Mars had been nothing but helpful, leaving her puzzled about his kindness towards her. While she was lost in thought, the elevator doors opened. Mars didn't follow her out but kindly reminded her, "Turn right, and you'll find Clay's office at the end. He doesn't like people near his space, so I won't join you. My office is downstairs; you can come to me anytime you need." "Many thanks, Mr. Kingsley. I would have been completely lost." Amelia smiled. "Anytime." The elevator doors closed before her, and silence once again filled the space. Amelia hurried towards the office at the end of the hall. Just as she was about to knock, she noticed the door was ajar, with Clay's voice booming from inside. "Why haven't you found her yet? How could you be such a fool?" The following was Marn's slightly aggrieved response. "I investigated the pawnshop but failed to get any result." "i***t, if the pawnshop doesn't have it, check the black market! I need to find the woman who was in my car that night!" Clay exclaimed impatiently. Holding her breath, Amelia pressed her ear to the door, curious about the person causing such an uproar in Clay. "Would you like to review the meeting documents first..." The voice inside trailed off. Sensing trouble, Amelia barely had a chance to step back before the door swung open forcefully. Tumbling in, she landed awkwardly on the floor. Above her, Clay's mocking voice broke the silence. "It seems I've underestimated you, Ms. Impostor. It's impressive that you've actually managed to come over."
