EXPERIENCING TEMPTATIONS

427 Words
Temptation is the desire to do something wrong or being tricked into doing something wrong. Temptations can be deceiving because they come from our selfish desires. You can either be deceived by temptations or you can rebuke it. Mathew 4:1-11 says, at that time Jesus fasted for forty days and forty nights, and he was led by the spirit in the desert to be tempted by the devil. The devil approached Jesus and told him to turn stone into bread , and Jesus rebuked him. Then the devil took jesus to a holy city and made him stand on the parapet of the temple, and said to him that if he was the son of God , he should throw himself down. Jesus rebuked the devil again. The devil took Jesus up to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in their magnificence, and said to Jesus that, all those kingdoms will be given to him, if he will worship the devil. And Jesus rebuked the devil for the third time. Although the devil tried three times to tempt Jesus, Jesus responded to the devil's temptations by rebuking him. Jesus overcome the devil's temptations because he did not have selfish desires. If jesus had selfish desires then he would have been tempted or tricked by the devil. Another way people react to temptations is by being tricked or tempted . In genesis chapter 3, we hear that in the beginning God created man in his own image and later on he created woman . Now we hear that the serpent was the most cunning of all animals, the serpent then approached the woman and tricked her into eating the forbidden fruit, tricking her into believing that if she eats the forbidden fruit she will be powerful. Because of the woman's selfish desires she ate the fruit from the forbidden tree and she also gave some to her husband, who was with her and he ate it. And just like that they man and woman were cursed for disobeying God. Adam and eve we tricked by the devil because of their selfish desires and their disobedience. And whenever you are getting tempted pray to God and rise up and shine in the eyes of the destroyer ,because light rises in darkness for the upright. If you cannot control temptations then control how you respond to those temptations that's were your power is. Responding to temptations with anger and insults is mission accomplished for the devil because he has then made you sin.
