Robert… Once Again
Almost three weeks on from my first acceptance of her offer to become – unthinkably – a live-in manservant, I had stood before Navya Chakraborty in her husband’s study that now served as her office.
True to her word, after my having accepted that the nature of our relationship would revert to a more formal and “Respectful” footing, I had taken her up on her offer and she had immediately called her husband’s secretary – the same elderly Indian woman who was now performing the same service for her in his absence - to say she would be spending the rest of the day away from the office.
After that, things moved swiftly, and I can see, with the perspective of hindsight, that she had already banked upon my acceptance and set the necessary wheels in motion.
