Chapter 10

“Avery,” Rebecca says as she popped her head into the room.

“Hey just the lady I was hopping would come by.” I said getting up and walking to her.

“Your brother and Jessica are looking for you. They are right mad your not in your room.” Rebecca said almost scared.

“Did they tell at you?” I asked a little worried.

“No but jessica is scary when she is mad.” Rebecca said with a gentle smile.

“This is going to be exciting.” I said with a sigh. “Now as your princess you are not to leave this room.”

“What why?” She asked a little worried.

“Because someone is worried about you.” I told her with a smile. “Now please stay with him as long as you need. If anyone needs you tell them to wait or come talk to me.”

“I cant.” She said looking at me.

“Are you difiying my request?” I asked her raising an eyebrow. She shook her head causing me to smile. I motioned towards Jason and without a second glance she was gone. Andrew came over with a smile as we left. Tarick waved at me before I disappeared. Rachelle was waiting for us.

“Tanisha had to run home. Something about family issue. She will be back as soon as she can.” Rachelle said with a smile before we started walking. “She Hope’s that is Alright with you.”

“Family is the most important part of life. If any of you need to go because of family you go.” I told her gently. She nodded before she looked towards where we where going.

It didn’t take long to get there. A smile lit my face as I seen my father sitting on a chair by the door. I chuckled lightly as he smiled at me. Three other chairs where there. Rachelle sat in one as Andrew sat in another. I took a deep breath and stepped into the room making sure to leave the door slightly ajar. I walked over to where I knew the would be and sure enough they where right there on the bed. Well Jessica was sitting there and Alex was passing. I really had to work on stopping him.

“There you are.” Alex snapped causing me to shutter. That didn’t stop he kept going at it. And again like all other times he would switch from being mean to being nice. Jessica was having a hard time not laughing. This time however I was not laughing. Some of the stuff he was saying actually hurt. It was like the lashes on my back where sticking up. I knew it was probably because of what mom did to me. Still it hurt but I took it for I knew I had done wrong.

“Enough.” Jessica snapped causing Alex to stop. I had tears running down my eyes now. Alex looked at her then at me and instantly through his arms around me.

“Oh good Av, I’m so sorry. I shouldn’t have said half those things. I don’t know where it was coming from.” He said holding me close. “I was just so scared.”

“We knew you wanted to leave and are very happy you left with plenty of guards. When we got word that you where in danger and taken that was the worst fear everyone got.” Jessica said. I looked at her and knew she was holding back her own anger. “There is so much I want to reprimand you for because of this endeavour but I feel he has done enough on my behalf.”

“I sorry guys. I just wanted to get out of here. I felt trapped.” I told them. “I had plenty of guards and we where very careful.”

“I know you where. He had no right to say half the stuff he did.” Jessica said looking at Alex. “Maybe my anger towards you I will let off on him.”

“No please don’t.” I said almost in tears. “This is my fault. Your anger towards this should be with me.”

“Its okay Sis.” Alex said gently letting me go. “I want you to smile.”

“Okay.” I said with a gently smile. I was still upset with all of this and I knew he was upset as well.

“We don’t ever want you to feel trapped we just want you to be safe.” He said. “If you want to go out again please let us know. We now know how you feel and if you ask we will know it’s because you feel trapped.”

“Thank you.” I said hugging him. He smiled as he held me for a bit.

“Now, time for supper.” Alex said lifting me up from the bed. Jessica smiled as we walked together to the Gazeboo in the garden. A few more rose buds had popped open showing some very beautiful colors brightening up the space. There was a table for four set up with a candle. It was beautiful.

“We new you might be bummed after us going all protective on you father decided to brighten your mood.” Jessica smiled as she wrapped her arms around my shoulder. “He got word how you loved the Rose’s here.”

“Most have them just bloomed so I thought you would love to see them.” Papa spoke from behind us. We all turned with a smile. He winked at me as I saw Thomas at the door with Andrew and Rachelle.

“Andrew and Rachelle, she is safe with us. You may retire for the night.” Jessica spoke to them. They bowed lightly before leaving. I hoped Andrew was going to spend time with Tarick and Jason or at least walk them home.

“Come let’s eat.” Papa spoke as we took our seat. The supper was perfect grilled chicken, creamy mashed potatoes and lemon garlic asparagus. We talked about many events that where to come I would have to be present for as well as a few battle strategies they wanted a third opinion for.

“We should show you the library tomorrow.” Alex laughed as a few servants came and took our plates. They replaced the with tea and goodies. I was happy for the hot beverage of earl grey. They had honey and cream on the table which I took happily.

“I would like that.” I said gently. I wanted to read some more on different battle strategies, stuff about princesses and maybe some magic if they had.

“We will get Rachelle and Tanisha to take you tomorrow. Rebecca will be in the hall with us.” Jessica spoke.

“Andrew will also be there.” Papa spoke. “I have asked for him not to leave her side.”

“May I ask why?” Jessica said curiously. “I feel the other two guards have everything well taken care of.”

“It is a request by me.” Papa spoke sturn. “I have my reason and I would like to keep it that way. When the time is right you will know.”

“If father has asked for it all is good.” Alex said grabbing her hand. She looked at him and nodded. I was happy they didn’t push further. I wanted to keep my secret for as long as I could. We began to talk about my outing and everything I did.

“I would like to retire to my room.” I said with a yawn.

“Absolutly. Should I walk you up?” jessica asked.

“No I’m sure Andrew is waiting for me.” I told them as I rose. “Since papa has asked him to watch me he is like glue.”

“If he gets to be to much let us know okay.” Alex said gently. I just nodded as I left the table and walked back to the castle. Sure enough there was Andrew leaning on a pillar waiting for me.

“Tired already.” He said gently falling in step with me. I nodded as he chuckled. “Jason and Tarick thank you for allowing Rebecca the time to see them. She actually walked them home.

“Has anyone seen rebecca" Shannon’s voice hit me and I groaned. Andrew c****d his head in confusion. I shook my head as I followed to her voice.

“I have asked her to walk some important people him. She will return soon.” I told her once I was in veiw. Shannon took on look at me and scrunched her face.

“Rachelle went with her so she didn’t walk back alone.” Andrew whispered the last part.

“What right do you have?” She spoke pointing a finger at me.

“I am princess and she is my guard. I have a right to tell her what to do.” I said sternly. “Its not like she is defying an order. I asked her and she will return.”

“No royal guard is to leave this castle until further notice.” Shannon snapped.

“Well that is a memo that no one told me. If I had know I would have never sent them.” I told Shannon.

“You princess are going to be the first princess in this castle that gets there guards killed.” Shannon said crossing her arms in front of her. “I don’t care how much your mothers magic is protecting you. On bad move and it’s all over for them. You hear me. All over.”

“I hear you loud a d clear as you are standing right in front of me.” I said gently back to her. She was right and I knew I had to be careful.

“You are a sad excuse for a princess. Of all the lost babies out there it had to be you.” Shannon said shaking her head. “Maybe your mother should have just let them kill you. She probably would have produced a better princess after.”

“SHANNON.” The roar came out of Andrew beside me. It shocked me but not as much as it shocked me what she said. My mind began playing scenes with her wording on them. Pain etched through my body I couldn’t move or respond to anything that was being said. Other thoughts hit my head that I couldn’t get away from.

“Like now the baby has a body guard.” Shannon spoke. “Didn’t get the girls killed got to bring the men in to have them wounded to.”

“Shannon I suggest you leave.” Andrew warned.

“You have no authority over me. I can say what I want. You are nothing but a junior royal guard. One they pitied and allowed in the force.” Shannon said. “What a good pairing the both of you.”

“Shannon.” Now the voice belonged to someone else. I looked over and there was Mark and another man. She instantly dropped her head and shut up. “Andrew take the princess to her room. She has heard enough nonsense for her.”

“Yes sir.” Andrew said as his hands fell on my arms. I collapsed as my world went black. All I could hear where screams.

I came back to my senses with a moan. Everything hurt as I tried to move. A hand fell on my shoulder and I’m sure they said something but I didn’t hear it. I just stopped moving. Slowly my hearing came back. Quiet at first but soon to it’s full extent.

“How is she?” Alex asked as I felt his hands fall on my shoulder.

“Nothing has changed.” Rachelle spoke from my feet area. “She did try and roll a few minutes ago.”

“Why does this have to happen to her.” Alex asked I could feel his tears hit my shoulder. “She doesn’t need all of this.”

“She is tough Alex. She will make it through.” Rachelle said trying to comfort him. “Thomas thinks the magic that has been awaken has been taken its energy source from her. He cant explain it as it should be using from this around it.”

“Could it be because of her emotions?” Alex asked.

“He thinks it might. We all have to be a little more careful and not allow her in dangerous situations that put her at risk.’ Rachelle said. “He also said it could have been what Shannon said.”

“She is being felt with by her brothers. I don’t know what will happen after this but she is not to see Avery. She is to stay well away from her.” Alex said.

“We understand sir. The king has given us strict instructions as well in regards to her. I don’t know how Rebecca is handling all this. She is so mad at her and yet she has to stay in her rank.” Rachelle said lightly.

“Rachelle.” A voice called from the door. I didn’t recognize it but maybe because it was so quiet.

“I must leave for now. I’ll update Tanisha on everything so she knows.” Rachelle said before I heard her walk away.

“I’m sorry Avery. We should have walked you to your room.” Alex spoke with a sigh.

“How is she.” Jessica called coming around the corner.

“Quiet and cold.” Alex sighed.

“She will be okay. Thomas said she just needs rest.” Jessica said as she grabbed my hand.

“What’s been going on?”

“Father needs us again in the study. He knows Avery is important but she is in good hands. Andrew has gone missing which he doesn’t like.” Jessica said. “Rebecca has been looking for him but hasn’t been able to find him.”

“Get a few more people to help her look. Maybe call Tarick over. Avery seems attached to him. Maybe it will give her some comfort.” Alex sighed. “I just wished all these horrible things would stop. She is to innocent for this.”

“She will pull through. She has a strong brother like you watching her.” Jessica spoke. I fell asleep again right after that. I woke up to pain as I screamed Andrew’s name. Not sure why that name but it’s what I screamed.

“Easy Avery I’m here.” Rebecca cried.

“The pain will disappear in just a moment.” Thomas called before it did. I was so cold but my body was drenched.

“Rachelle, Tanisha.” Rebecca called as she pulled the sheets away.

“Yes they both said in unison.

“We got to change the sheets again.” Rebecca sighed as she lifted me to her arms. Someone ran in front of us as I heard a bath being run. Rebecca put me in before she started removing my clothing. The water felt so good as I relaxed. “That’s it Avery just relax. Your safe I promise.”

“Andrew.” I managed to stumble out.

“We are still looking for him. I promise the moment I find him he is coming right here so you can give him a piece of your mind.” Rebecca said gently laughing trying to keep me relaxed. I knew she was worried and stressed. “Relax Avery your safe.”

I did relax. The water was soothing on my body as Rebecca cleaned away the sweat. I fell asleep to her gently humming and when I woke I found myself in bed covered up. I wasn’t sweating but it did feel like I just had another bath as I fell still a little damp but with clean water. I opened my eyes to have the moon light shining in. I wondered how long I had been asleep for. My body was still sore so I knew I had even longer to go before I would be aloud to wake.

A hand gripped mine and my eyes fell on Rebecca who looked to be crying. I tried to grip her but I just couldn’t. She must have felt me want to hug her because she fell on me holding me tight. Fear etched my ever muscle as I worried what was wrong.

“Easy, Av. Easy.” She cried gently. “I am so happy you are awake.”

“How long?” I manage to stumble out.

“A month.” She said. My face went white.

“Hey no, stress.” Tanisha spoke as she grabbed my other hand. “You needed the rest. Plus a bad virus got you causing massive sweats.”

“We haven’t left your side.” Rebecca smiled at me.

“Andrew has been found and is in lock up for now. He refuses to see you even though we are sure it was your scream that drew him to the castle out of hiding.” Tanisha told me. “He is being treated like royalty down there don’t worry.”

“We are still trying to figure out why he ran.” Rebecca said upset. I nodded but was upset to. He shouldn’t have left my side. He should have been right there the whole time.

“Now you need to rest a bit more. We are getting some food prepared for you okay.” I nodded gently as I closed my eyes. They didn’t leave me till I fell asleep. When I woke up they where talking with each other at the end of my bed.

“Nope, not on your own.” Tanisha spoke noticing me. She plowed through the other two and helped me sit up. I knew it hadn’t been long for I still stayed the same. My stomach hungry as it let is voice be heard.

“We where wondering if your up to visiting the dungeon.” Rebecca asked quietly after an encouragement punch from Rachelle.

“Andrew?”

“He refused to eat, he refused to talk and he refuses to see you.” Rachelle said when Rebecca just couldn’t get the words out.

“Chair.” I said pointing to the wheelchair. There was no way I had the strength to walk down there. Tanisha grabbed it quickly causing both her and Rachelle to set me down in it. They wrapped a blanket around me and placed a small pillow at the back of my neck to make it more comfortable. “Thomas.”

“You called princess.” Thomas spoke after a few minutes. He magically appeared in front of me.

“The princess request to see Andrew down in the dungeon.” Rebecca spoke clear.

“Then let it be so.” Thomas spoke with a bow. He swirled his hand around the four of us and we instantly where put in the basement. I was wheeled a short distance away before I stopped in front of a cell. There was a maid there with a few dishes of food.

“Open.” I motioned to the door for them. They nodded and rolled me in. I motioned for them to wait a distance away from us. They didn’t want to but did.
