He turned and headed to his room. What was that about? Was he mad about all am saying. I thought to myself.
Old Mr Henshaw shook his head and left my room.
I laid on my bed face flat, questioning myself. Why is he home by 5, he’s not supposed to be back until 6:40.
Grey’s POV
My international business meeting had been rescheduled, so I returned home an hour earlier than usual .
As I walked toward my room, a familiar voice drifted down the hallway.
“…He’s so mean, cruel, wicked, heartless and a monster.”
I stopped. It was the little redhead girl.
She hadn’t noticed me. She was talking about me, every word dripping with resentment and disrespect.
Her voice was filled with anger as she continued cursing my name. Then she turned, and our eyes met.
Silence.
The color drained from her face.
I held her gaze for a moment before walking past as though I hadn’t heard a single word.
She should be grateful she managed to impress me earlier, I thought.
Otherwise, I would’ve shown her what true cruelty looks like.
If only she knew… no one speaks about me that way and lives to tell the tale.
A grave would’ve been waiting for her by sunrise.
I’m making an exception.
Only because I want her to give me a child.
That power I saw her unleashed was extraordinary, unlike anything I had ever witnessed before.
I want my child to be powerful, and she is the perfect one.
If she’s capable of such strength, then she must be a witch too. Hmm…
Perhaps Mr. Henshaw made the right choice after all.
Well, I hope she doesn’t piss me off to kill here before she act right .
Firstly, I need to find out what she is.., and what she is really capable of doing.
Just then, a knock sounded at the door.
“Come in,” I called.
The door creaked open, and Mrs. Nicole walked inside. She fidgeted her hands nervously, her expression hesitant.
“Alpha Grey… I’d like to speak to you about something. Please don’t be offended . It’s about Celia.”
I leaned back in my chair, studying her. “Go on, Mrs. Nicole. You can speak freely.”
She lowered her gaze before meeting my eyes again.
“Celia is still very young. I’d like to plead with you… please give her a little more time. She’s just a young girl, and I don’t think she’s ready for something this important. I know you’ve already made your decision, but I beg you to follow her calmly. I’m sure she’ll come around”.
“You have to let her carry your baby happily, not with sadness or regret ,” Mrs. Nicole pleaded, her voice trembling with concern. “If she’s forced into something she isn’t ready for, she might hurt herself… or even the baby. She’s scared ,Alpha Grey . Fear makes people do things they normally wouldn’t do.”
I listened to every word without interrupting her. When she finally became silent, I folded my hands on the desk and calmly voiced out.
“That,” I said, “is exactly why you are here you have to groom her properly. I brought you here for you to teach her.”
Mrs. Nicole frowned. “Teach her?”
“Yes. Teach her how to be strong. Teach her discipline, patience, and responsibility. The world won’t pause or slow down because she’s scared.”
“But she’s still a girl,” she argued softly. “She deserves time to grow.”
“Time doesn’t always ask for permission before it changes someone’s life,” I replied. “Some people are forced to mature sooner than others. Whether either of us likes it is irrelevant.”
She shook her head. “With respect,Alpha, there’s a difference between teaching someone and breaking them.”
For the first time, my expression hardened.
“I have no intention of breaking her.”
“Then why does she look so terrified every time she’s around you?” Mrs. Nicole asked, gathering enough courage to meet my eyes.
The room fell into a heavy silence.
“I don’t need her to love me,” I answered after a long pause. “I need her to survive what lies ahead of her.”
Mrs. Nicole sighed deeply. “People survive better when they feel safe.”
I stood and walked toward the window, staring into the darkness beyond the glass.
“Then make her feel safe,” I said quietly. “That is your responsibility.”
She hesitated before asking, “And what will yours be?” She said moving backwards.
Without turning around, I answered, “To make sure no one in this world can ever take what belongs to me.”
“Now leave, Miss Nicole,” I said.
She gave a respectful nod before turning and walking out. The moment the door clicked shut behind her, I drove my fist into the wall.
“Damn it.”
Why was I even pissed off?
She was just a stubborn little redhead. Nothing more.
Yet every time she stood in front of me with that defiant look in her eyes, I found myself losing my composure. It was irritating.
She had better start behaving before I completely lost my patience.
I exhaled sharply and pulled out my phone.
“Mr. Henshaw.”
“Alpha.”
“Buy everything women usually like. Clothes, jewelry, flowers… whatever comes to mind. Put it all in Celia’s room.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
The call ended.
I began pacing around my office, my thoughts refusing to settle.
This was ridiculous.
Why was I even trying to please her?
All I wanted was an heir.
Nothing more.
So why did it suddenly matter whether she smiled… or looked at me with anything other than hatred?
I stopped in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, staring down at the city lights below.
This wasn’t like me.
Women had always been simple. They wanted attention, expensive gifts, pretty words, promises I never intended to keep.
Celia… she wanted none of those.
She looks at me as though I was the villain in her story.
My lips curved into a faint smirk.
Stubborn.
Every time I tried to intimidate her, she fought back. Every punishment only seemed to sharpen her tongue.
She was unlike anyone I had ever met.
I hated admitting it, but that was exactly what made her interesting.
I folded my arms behind my back.
“If buying her a few things will make this process easier, then so be it,” I muttered to myself.
I wasn’t doing it because I cared.
I simply needed her to stop looking at me like I was her greatest enemy.
Once she gave me a child, this arrangement would be over.
That was the plan.
Yet…
Why did that thought suddenly leave a bitter taste in my mouth?
Before I could dwell on it any longer, there was a knock at my office door.
“Come in.”
Old Mr. Henshaw stepped inside and bowed slightly.
“Alpha, everything has been purchased. The gifts have already been taken to Celia’s room.”
“Did she say anything?”
He hesitated.
