Chapter Eleven: The Connection

1020 Words
Noah hasn’t talked to me in three days, not so much as single eye contact. Which was weird because he used to follow me everywhere I went. Maybe they were forming another ill plan to set me up. I hadn’t seen him anywhere, it was either he was on a trip with family or something, or he was with Ava. I dismissed the thoughts in the back of my mind. I was walking alongside the field, drawing thoughts into my head about what I was planning for my day this morning, I had been isolated with my thoughts to the extent that I didn’t realize the hazardous object almost bashing into my skull before I was rudely pushed by a guy from the incoming ball. I gasp when I found out that it was Noah who saved me, his light greyish eyes trapped me in his heated gaze at our wrong position, he was on top of me, and my back was on the grass. It was like Noah was different when his eyes soaked me in, and I felt dazed at the close proximity between us, his breath mingled with mine, my eyes flickered softly at him as his lips were inches away from mine, it was like he was battling himself when he grazed his nose against my jaw, my hands on his upper arms as he continued to pepper butterfly kisses against my jaw and hugged my neck with his head as he took in my scent, luckily, I was wearing my lavender perfume and it seemed like he loved it as he kept his head snuggled and my hands automatically found their way to his soft curls as I brushed them tenderly with my fingers. Noah told me when he pulled away, “Do not do that again. Although you are cute when you disappear from their world, it is very dangerous all the time.” I just stared at him all stumped out of stupor. It was like I was living in an alternative world where Noah just straight out complimented me. My cheeks reddened when I felt myself becoming shy at the fact that he told me I was cute sometimes, he stood up and helped me in the process to get up, then I dusted off my sweats only to look up to Noah’s smirk. He really had a fetish for teasing me around. We were busy looking at each other the whole time, and I couldn’t believe what we had just done. I was self-conscious and my heartbeat raced against these irrational moments, it was like a bubble of chemistry bursting between us, and I didn’t know why I felt bashful towards him. Wait, who threw the ball at me? That part got me confused as I looked around to see groups of players during the game with some of the girls cheerleading, Ava almost looked smug as she continued cheerleading, and I couldn’t help the feeling of suspicion towards her. But I didn’t like to point fingers, I didn’t even notice who threw the ball while Noah and I had intimate moments now. But Noah’s hand under my chin made me look back at him, he had a silly smile on his face, his eyes all dreamy and entertained. He enjoyed making me squirm under his looks, the tip of his finger brought my head up as he asked me, “Why are you flushed?” he knew the answer, but he wanted to give me a hard time for it. I didn’t have an option except to run away from the bad boy as he howled in laughter behind me. I felt the wind whipping against my face when I was a fair distance away from him. I didn’t want to have those heavy feelings for him, he made my life hell. I was more than embarrassed when I stopped near the cafeteria, I exhaled out my emotions when I entered the cafeteria and sat down on one of the chairs, covering my face with my hands. My mind automatically went back to our intense field interaction, and I willed it to go away, this morning was not my morning. I lowered my hands only to see Ava walking with her posse in their cheerleading outfits, they were heading over to their usual table at the back, I could see Ava’s jealousy from a mile away, I had a hunch that indicated that she was the one who threw the ball at me. But something didn’t add up, how would she throw the ball when she was cheerleading on the field? Maybe she got one of her boy toys to throw at me in exchange for her phone number. I didn’t want to think about it anymore as I unlocked my phone and scrolled through my social media. My classes resumed normally as I went through my curriculum with ease. Noah was in front of me once again, right now when I was done with my classes for the day. He had a lazy smile on his face, his back against my locker. I pretended like he wasn’t there when I passed by, but he gripped my arm as his face neared mine, it was like my head reacted to him as I went back to blushing again. “You should know by now that I can’t be ignored.” He whispered in my ear, making me get the chills everywhere. I pursed my lower lip as I looked up at him, only to meet his darkened eyes at my lips. We had another heated look exchange. Ava was staring at the interaction with a scowl on her face, she was raging at Noah’s rescue, she breathed fire when the girl behind her spoke out. She didn’t want her boyfriend anywhere near girls. “It seems that your boyfriend is in love with that bitch.” A slutty tone was perfect for the slutty girl that was behind Ava. Ava knew the voice too well because she was the one who started this, and Ava was determined to end it.
