Time to Sail

Jacob I watched through the Vision Pool full of concentration and deep sadness. 'Destiny' I mumble with a sullen tone. 'How long are we going to keep them trapped in the Shadow Realm like this? They are completely miserable.' I was worried and on the verge of desperation. 'Jacob, we are not keeping them trapped there, we are protecting them. Protecting them from your mistakes I might add' Destiny sounded fed up. We had had this conversation a thousand times over. ' I really think if we explained the whole thing to Fate, they would understand and maybe even help us put things right, please Destiny?' I knew she could sense my desperation, but I also knew that she remained unmoved. For some reason, Destiny just didn't trust Fate and I had no idea why. I did know that whatever the reason was, Destiny was not going to tell me or anyone else for that matter, so it was useless to keep pushing. My only option was to just keep watching things unravel. It was clear I had no power in this situation and if I did have any power, Destiny would find a way to stop me from using it. That was the thing about Destiny; she was uncompromising. It was her way or the highway, something that her and Fate had in common and something that I found both endearing and frustrating. Destiny was complex and contradictory but she always had the best intentions, she wanted to protect and guide everyone that crossed her path. Destiny believed in goodness and the power of good. Maybe that's why she resented Fate so much. Fate was neutral and unmoved by moral values. Fate was uncompromising in a way that good people getting hurt was fine as long as the main objective was fulfilled. Fate only cared about outcomes. The more I thought about it, the more it made sense that maybe we were just collateral damage in some big plan that Fate had conjured up. It honestly makes more sense than Destiny's decision to keep Jack and Lucy in the shadow realm indefinitely. Did she even have a plan or was this it? I had to trust her and hope that there was some kind of method to her madness, otherwise this would have all been for nothing and, honestly, I don't think I could live another lifetime just watching everything happen and not do a damn thing about any of this. There has to be a better way if I could just think of a plan that destiny would agree to. Maybe there would be a way for me to redeem myself, then Jack and Lucy could fulfil their true Destiny and this whole nightmare could lay to rest, but for now, there is nothing I can do but trust that Destiny does have some kind of plan that she will reveal at the right time. I just can not stand the thought of Lucy and Jack being in the Shadow realm all this time, to never know their family and to never have a family of their own. The Shadow Realm is a place where people go to escape Fate and Death, but it is not a place where you go to live. It is not a place of love and laughter, it is a place of turmoil and injustice. I wish I could talk to Fate myself and sort out this whole situation, but I know that Destiny will never forgive me. The day of the invasion, I was captured and turned by an elite Vampire. When Destiny found me, she told me to go hide in the cave otherwise the rest of the pack would kill me if they found out. They would never continue to follow and Alpha that had been turned. When I turned, I heard my wolf whine sorrowfully as I felt him fade away. Everything I knew and loved disintegrated in that moment. I had lost my pack, my Luna and my son. At that time, Jack was just a baby not old enough to remember me. With my wolf gone, I found it easier to turn away from everything, but to be away from Jack was near impossible. So I remained in the cave near the pack to watch him grow at a distance. The day he wandered into the cave with Lucy, I decided I just couldn't take it any longer. I wanted him to be with me. I wanted my son back. He didn't even run but he just stood there like he knew. He was watching Lucy walk out of the cave and I waited as soon as she was out of sight. I took my chance. Jack didn't even flinch. It was like he knew and expected it to happen. But he couldn't have known who I was or what was about to happen. Destiny wouldn't tell him I was his father and he didn't have his wolf yet, so there is no way he could have known. Yet at the same time, it just seemed so strange, it did't add up at all and I probably will never find out what was going through his mind at that moment. Though I wish I could, maybe it would give us some kind of clue about what we are supposed to do, a way to figure out how to fix all of this. I feel like everything is wrong and there is another way, but I can't convince Destiny of it unless I have an actual plan. She is too stubborn and won't listen to reason unless I can present some kind of convincing alternative. One thing destiny did not like was being wrong. She always felt as though she had a plan and a path and when she made up her mind nothing would make her stray one step away from what she had envisioned. Well, maybe I have a plan and a path too. I just feel like Destiny has changed, like she isn't the same person anymore. Ever since the invasion the day I was turned by the Vampire King, she just seems different. I begged her to ask Fate to change me back but she wouldn't hear of it. I remember feeling rejected, lost, broken, and I don't remember her suffering when our bond broke right before I fully transformed. I have never heard of any Luna being able to survive losing a bond from an Alpha, but she just stood there unaffected and immediately convinced me to leave and I listened because I panicked and I believed in her and believed in her foresight, but now I am not so sure none of this makes any sense. I need to find out the truth for myself. I don't think I can trust Destiny anymore, it just doesn't add up. I need to get to the Shadow Realm and find Jack and Lucy before its too late. The thing about the Shadow Realm is time worked differently. Thousands of years can pass in the Shadow Realm, which equates to only days in the Ascended Plains, which means I still had time and if I could get to the Shadow Realm, then I would have even more time to figure everything out. Maybe I would find Chance and Luck and find out why they were running from Fate and why they left Lucy behind. I might find Jack and Lucy and we would be able to figure everything out. The only problem is how to get to the Shadow Realm without Destiny finding out. The only way was to sail, a suicide mission. To cross twelve cursed oceans. If I fail to cross the oceans, I'll be lost forever, but if I'm am successful, then it will only equate to one day in the Ascended Plains. It is worth the risk if it means saving Jack and Lucy and putting everything right again. Then maybe I could say goodbye to them and take my place in the Realm of Eternal Night where I should have gone once I was turned. If only that Vampire invasion never happened and how it happened never made any sense, Vampires can not enter the Ascended Plains unless they are invited in and who in their right minds would invite a hoard of Vampires knowing the consequences. I feel so stupid. I've been so obsessed with blindly following Destiny that I didn't see that none of this added up. If only I had the courage to ask any of this sooner. Instead of hiding away like a coward.
