DINNER WITH THE DEVIL☠️

930 Words
The air inside the car was thick with unspoken tension. Ayana sat beside Ethan in the backseat, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her dress. Zara was staying behind at the penthouse, under heavy security. But Ayana couldn’t shake the image of her baby sister’s terrified face when they left. “Are you sure about this?” Ethan asked as the city lights passed outside the tinted windows. “No,” Ayana admitted. “But Claudia wants a showdown and I’m done hiding.” Ethan reached over and gently squeezed her hand. “Whatever happens, we face it together.” --- Scene: Claudia’s Mansion The car pulled up to Claudia’s gated estate in Karen. The gates opened slowly, as if taunting them. Inside, the mansion was dimly lit with flickering candles, a long dining table set in the center of a glass-walled room. Claudia stood at the head of it, dressed in a deep crimson gown, a cold smirk on her lips. “Ayana. Ethan. I’m honored,” she purred. Ayana stepped in first, her chin raised high. “Cut the theatrics, Claudia. What do you want?” Claudia gestured toward the table. “To talk. Nothing more. I even had the wine decanted. Vintage. Expensive. Just like you used to dream of, Ayana, remember?” Ethan scoffed. “You think this is going to fix what you’ve done?” Claudia’s smile didn’t falter. “You’re so dramatic, Ethan. Sit. Please.” --- Scene: Tension at the Table They sat. For a moment, there was only silence the clink of wine glasses, the soft scrape of silver on porcelain. Then Claudia leaned forward. “You’re strong, Ayana. I’ll give you that. I thought ruining your name would break you. But instead, it made you famous.” Ayana stared her down. “You tried to destroy my life.” “No,” Claudia said calmly. “I tried to take back what was mine. You took him from me.” “I didn’t take anything,” Ayana snapped. “You lost Ethan long before I ever came into the picture.” Ethan’s voice was quiet but firm. “Claudia, we’re done. What do you want?” Claudia’s eyes flashed. “I want the truth to come out. About your wife. Her past. Her family.” Ayana froze. “What are you talking about?” Claudia slid a brown envelope across the table. Ayana hesitated, then opened it and her stomach dropped. Inside were printed screenshots… of Zara. Old f*******: posts. A message thread. An email. One particularly alarming photo showed Zara hugging someone someone Ayana hadn’t seen in years. Her father. Dead to them for over a decade. “What is this?” Ayana whispered, shaken. Claudia’s voice was venomous. “Your little sister’s been keeping secrets too. Wouldn’t it be awful if the media found out your father the man who abandoned your family was actually alive this whole time? And in hiding?” Ayana’s face paled. “You wouldn’t.” “I would,” Claudia whispered. “Unless you leave. Step out of Ethan’s life. Today. No goodbye. No farewell. Just disappear.” --- Scene: Ethan Breaks His Silence Ethan stood, furious. “You’re disgusting, Claudia.” She didn’t flinch. “I’m strategic,” she replied. “You know how the media works, Ethan. A scandal, a sob story Ayana’s name gets dragged through the mud again. This time, it sticks.” Ayana was trembling. But not with fear this time, with rage. She stood too, looking Claudia dead in the eye. “You think you can control me with secrets and threats. But you’ve made one mistake.” Claudia raised an eyebrow. “Oh?” Ayana leaned closer. “You underestimated the kind of woman I’ve become. You can expose my past, Claudia. But I’ll expose yours. And trust me your skeletons are far messier than mine.” --- Scene: Escape and Strategy Back in the car, Ayana clutched the envelope. Ethan sat beside her, quiet. “I didn’t know,” Ayana whispered. “I thought he was gone for good. Zara never said anything.” Ethan’s hand found hers again. “It doesn’t matter. We’ll find out the truth. But we’re not letting Claudia blackmail you.” Ayana’s eyes narrowed. “No. We hit back. It’s time she gets a taste of her own poison.” --- Scene: Claudia’s Cracks Begin to Show Back at her estate, Claudia watched the couple leave from her balcony. Her assistant approached. “Ma’am, there’s a problem. The private investigator you hired? He’s been arrested. Someone tipped off the authorities.” Claudia’s eyes widened. “What do you mean arrested?” “They found forged surveillance footage and planted evidence he’s naming names.” Claudia’s wine glass slipped from her hand, shattering on the tiles. --- Scene: A Father’s Shadow At the penthouse, Ayana sat with Zara later that night, the envelope still on her lap. “You lied to me,” she said softly. Zara’s eyes filled with tears. “I didn’t know how to tell you. I met him two years ago. He reached out. I was angry, Ayana, but… I needed to understand why he left.” “And?” “He said he was threatened. That it wasn’t safe to stay. I didn’t believe him. But now with everything happening… I wonder if it’s connected.” Ayana’s thoughts swirled. Claudia had been a storm in their lives but maybe she wasn’t the only one with dangerous ties. Maybe their father’s secrets were just beginning to unravel.
