Ayana barely slept. The mattress was softer than clouds, the sheets smelled of lavender and wealth, but her thoughts kept racing. Every time she closed her eyes, she saw Ethan’s eyes those unreadable, stormy eyes that made her stomach flutter for reasons she didn’t want to admit. Morning sunlight poured into the room through the sheer curtains. Ayana sat up slowly, clutching the silky bedsheet to her chest. It wasn’t a dream. She was really here in a billionaire’s home, wearing his ring, living his lie. The door creaked open. “Good morning,” Ethan said, dressed in a crisp black suit, holding two cups of coffee. She blinked. “You drink coffee?” “I’m human, Ayana,” he smirked. “Despite what you may think.” She took the cup, their fingers brushing. That tiny touch sent a shiver through her. Why did this feel so… dangerous? “We have a dinner tonight,” he said. “With someone important. Our first public appearance as a couple.” “Tonight?” She panicked. “Ethan, I don’t know how to act rich. What if I mess up?” He stepped closer, gaze softening. “Then we mess up together.” Ayana looked away, heart pounding. This wasn’t just a contract anymore. It was a storm she didn’t know how to stop. And she was already in too deep.
