Everywhere I turned, Valen’s name followed,so did his enemies. I didn’t notice it at first,the shadows watching from a distance, the unmarked cars that didn’t belong, the sudden feeling that I was never alone even when I should have been. Valen had warned me. Not with words, but with silence. With the way his eyes lingered on me before he left. With the heaviness of the necklace now hidden at the bottom of my drawer. That gift,it wasn’t just protection,It was a tether. A signal. A mark. And now… it was like I had stepped out of my world and into his. Valen had vanished into the shadows again, just like he always did smooth, silent, dangerous.
