Chapter 12: More Than a Rivalry

As senior year came to a close and ended, Liam and Mateo had settled into a relationship that felt right. What had started as rivalry and tension had grown into something real and lasting, and even they couldn’t believe how far they’d come.

At graduation, as they stood together in their caps and gowns, Mateo nudged Liam. “You ready for whatever comes next?”

Liam looked at him, realizing how much their rivalry had changed his life, and how grateful he was for it. “As long as you’re with me,” he said quietly, “I think I can handle it.”

Mateo smiled, leaning in to kiss him softly, and for the first time in years, Liam felt completely at peace with where he was and who he was on the inside .

Their story had begun with a competition, with harsh words and cold glares, but it had transformed into something more powerful than either of them had expected, they were more than best friends.

They were no longer rivals or enemies. They were partners, boyfriends—moving forward together, ready to face whatever the world threw their way, they were ready to face it together.
