Can we ever be happy?

850 Words
I sat on my couch looking out of the window and smiling. Truly smiling after a very long time. I finally felt...happy. And I knew the reason. It was because I had friends now, friends that I had wished for such a long time. The boys really made me feel welcome. The first few weeks of my new school were over and I was happy to not be lonely anymore.  Each day I fall for Agustin harder. When I first saw him, he came across as this grumpy- brooding good looking bad boy who does not care about anything but now he is different. He is nice to me. The boys are nice to me. The type of nice that someone has not been to me in a long time. I sighed, shaking my head and getting up from the couch. Damn it! why did i have to think about my past again. Cant I be happy for just one day. Not a good start of the weekend. I sighed again and walked through the empty house towards my room. I entered the bathroom and splashed my face with cold water. Looking at myself in the mirror was not the best idea.  A simple looking girl with brown hair and silver-grey eyes stared back at me. The girl was not special. Not important. She was broken, almost at a stage where it was permanent. She cannot love for whatever she has loved before has been snatched away from her. She hurt people, unknowingly but still hurt them. Hurt her sister. Hurt her parents.  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agustin woke up today morning...with a smile on his face? He was taken aback by what just happened. He smiled. Genuinely smiled after a very long time and it was all because of her. He could not help but think again of how adorable she was. Thinking about it, his mind travelled back to when he last smiled, waving his father goodbye.  Agustin felt something heavy settle down his gut and tried to shake of this feeling. He did not like feeling this way. He rolled off his bed and stood up dialling a number on his phone and putting it on his ear. The phone rang thrice before she picked up. "Hello?" She said and Agustin's mood instantly lifted. "Amara." He stated not knowing the exact reason why he called her but not regretting the decision whatsoever.  "Agustin?" He smiled at the way she knew him by his voice. "How did you get my number?" She asked in a shy tone and he imagined her blushing right away.  "I am your friend Amara, I am supposed to have your number." He said not wanting to scare her off by telling her the how he actually got her number.  "Do you want to meet today Amara?" He asked breaking the silence that was forming between them as neither of them knew what to talk about. "Uh...sure" She replied. Agustin let out a deep sigh and said "I will pick you up in an hour." And with that he cut the call after she mumbled a small ok.  -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I was staring blankly at my half empty closet having a hard time to decide what to wear. It has been half an hour since Agustin called and asked me if I wanted to hang out with him today. I blushed at the thought again but quickly composed myself. This is not the time Amara! I internally shouted at myself. You need to get ready.  Without any further thought, I pulled out the only good outfit I have. My all so favourite jumpsuit. I quickly put it on and it still fit perfectly around me. The jumpsuit reached my midthigh and had black- red straps. The whole jumpsuit was completely black. A weird looking one, I know but it suites me. I quickly pulled my hair up in a pony tail and put on some lip balm. What can I say? I don't really like putting on makeup. Besides I am just hanging out  with Agustin. Right? I stared at the mirror for a while until the door bell rang.  with one last look at myself, I ran to the front door and dashed it open. There stood Agustin with all his masculine glory. He looked amazing. Like always. He was wearing his favourite black leather jacket, a white T-shirt , dark jeans and black boots. I could not help but stare at him for a while before he cleared his throat. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Agustin cleared his throat because he snapped back at reality. He could not take his eyes off this gorgeous girl in front of him. She looked so beautiful with the little jump suit she was wearing. He fought the urge to remove his jacket and cover her up because he didn't want anyone looking at his girl. Yes his girl.  Agustin didn't know why he felt that but it just felt right. Damn him. He needed her in his life and it does not matter if she is innocent or too good for him. She makes him happy and if there is anything he knew he wanted in this life it was her.
