Friends

Agustin reached the school parking lot and as he entered everyone, and i mean every single eye was on us. I could not help but blush hard. Oh god attention. I hate so much attention! I looked around and realised that most of them were looking at us with fear. Why were they scared? 

Agustin parked his bike at the empty space near the back and by that time most of the lot was empty. He got off and helped me down with him. "Thanks." I stated. That was probably the first time I did not stammer. His eyes snapped to me and once again, I could not help but blush under his stare. He looked at me for a while before saying "What are you doing at lunch?". 

It was my turn to look back at him with wide eyes. He was patient and let me process everything before I said "Oh uh nothing. Just eating." I looked back at my all so nice white sneakers when he stepped closer and tilted my chin back so that I look at him again. We were not an inch away when he spoke again, "I will see you at lunch". 

"w..why?" I asked startled by his statement.

"Because I like you" he said before walking off and leaving me with my thoughts.

I had Maths with Mr. Arango and Art with Ms. Finn but I could not stop thinking about what Agustin said. Does he like me like me, or like me as a friend? I would never know that now I guess. Now currently I am sitting in English class with Mr. Bell and because of my boredom I decided to write in my diary again. I wrote down everything I was feeling and realised that I might have a little crush of Agustin. A very little crush. 

God are you kidding? He is drop dead gorgeous. But I cant like him. He probably has a girlfriend already. No. He would not give me a ride if he did. I wrote down a few more words and caught a classmate staring at me. I frowned not realizing why. She quickly looked away her expression clearly showing fear. What was she scared of? This is not the first time that happened. People have been giving me stares since I entered school today. Huh weird. So i did what any normal person would do- I ignored her and the school bell rang. That was when I realised that its lunch and as minutes passed by, my heart started beating faster. 

I quickly bought lunch from the canteen and speed walked to the isolated area I had found yesterday behind a big tree near the school ground. I know, I am the least social person.

I reached my spot and sat down on the round empty table far from student eyes. I stabbed the pasta in front of me and as I was about to put the first bite in my mouth, my eyes fell on them and the spoon dropped from my hand. 

It was them, the group of guys from yesterday. They were walking towards me. All of them smiling almost looking happy. Not until my eyes fell on a very annoyed and pissed Agustin. He came up straight to me and sat right beside me while the other boys sat across me on the round table. The table was quite big and all of them fit in there even though they looked majorly uncomfortable. 

"Hey Amara. How's your day going?" asked the guy with a lip piercing. Even though all of them were scary, the way they spoke made me feel comfortable. They were not so bad after all. "Fine I guess" I replied, looking at Agustin who still looked quite pissed. 

"It would have been better if you guys weren't hear" Agustin bit out. 

Ah. Light bulb. These guys are Agustin's friends and for some reason he does not want me to meet them that's why he is pissed. "Uh so what is your name?" I asked to particularly no one breaking the awkward silence. 

"Henry", "Jack", "John", "Peter" and "Joseph" were their names. I was right John and Joseph were brothers. They introduced themselves with a wave and smile. Way to go! I just made friends and I was super happy. They all seemed nice. We spoke the whole lunch time introducing and telling short stories. Agustin was not much of a speaker but he seemed fine with me talking to them now. Not once did he leave my side though. Not that I mind it. I liked being close to him, it made me feel safe. He looked at me and I realised I was staring at him. Again. 

That's when Peter said "So Amara, now the infamous boys and the new girl are friends Huh?"
