Chapter 2

As Heylel and Adrian slid down the hill, Heylel caught a glimpse of a shadowy figure standing in the forest border. The same figure in his dream. "s**t. We need to go faster!" Adrian said, snapping Heylel out of his thoughts. "Heylel! Can you move to my left side and hold on to my jacket!" Adrian ordered Heylel as the boy slowly made his way on the left side of Adrian and held tightly on his leather jacket. With Heylel out of the way, Adrian used his right hand to aim behind them as a soft yellow glow emitted from his palms. The yellow color became orange and the orange became red as heat waves started to appear and soon, a blast of flames emitted from his hand, the blast so strong that it made them faster than a Cheetah. As the two boys came closer and closer to the village, they saw a figure the size of a horse but with the body of a lizard like creature with wings that resembles those of a dinosaur that can fly, an elongated neck like a giraffe's four webbed like feet like a duck that has claws like a lion and has an alligator like tail. Heylel looked at Adrian as Adrian looked at Heylel, both muttering in an instant. "A dragon." They both looked infront of them, seeing the wretched beast open its mouth, a heat wave occuring as a stream of molten magma spewed out it's mouth followed by an enormous flame that spread like a well, forest fire. The molten magma that spewed out from its mouth was soon headed for a child in a colorful pink dress, holding a stuffed bear that might soon be obliterated when a sudden blast of water came out of nowhere. "RUN!" A man shouted as Heylel and Adrian finally got to the village, now facing the deranged beast. The two boys looked over where the water came from and saw a middle aged man came from a house which was slowly but surely burning down. "Dad?!" Heylel asked, surprised seeing his father among the ruckus with a bleeding head and burn marks all over his body. "No time to explain! We must get everyone to safety and make sure that that beast won't get awa-" Heylel's father was cut off when another ball of molten magma was fired. The Old man was quick enough to dodge it but not quick enough to get his hand out of the way, resulting in the molten ball of magma to obliterate his left hand. "DAD!" Heylel shouted as he ran over to his father who was now bleeding out of his left hand. The old man held on to his hand to try and stop the bleeding, but to no avail. "Here, let me help." Adrian suggested as he took the arm of the old man who was barely conscious due to the loss of blood and pointed his finger in the air. As Adrian closed his eyes, the air around his finger began to fizzle as he started chanting a spell. "Ezti Moyses intak lith!" As Adrian finished the spell, a soft glow of blue light emerged from his hand, covering the amputated hand of Heylel's father, covering the outer layer with a thin sheet of snow, stopping the blood from gushing out. "This should stop the bleeding until we get him to safety. But we need to hide him and keep him safe to make sure that he won't get hurt." Adrian suggested as Heylel looked at him with a burning passion within his eyes. Heylel stood up and looked at Adrian. "Can you stop that dragon from attacking me while I make a barrier for dad?" Heylel asked as Adrian nodded and sprang to action to go against the fire breathing beast. He took a deep breath and let it out as he closed his eyes and raised both of his arms on the ground. A fizzle was heard as golden light soon began to emerge from his hands as he started to chant a spell. "Protectum Inferium." As he said the spell, the ground began to shake as massive seaweed like plants began to grow from the ground and started to cover the body of his father. He smiled as the plants slowly but surely took his father's unconscious body and moved it to somewhere safe. He nodded as he remembered that his Bestfriend, Adrian, was still fighting the dragon on his own and soon decided to join him. "Take this!" Adrian shouted as he threw a fireball at the winged creature but did no effect, only making the creature angrier. Heylel got to Adrian's side and asked him. "What's the update on it?!" "Well, my flames don't do anything to it since it's an elemental flame drake, and for my ice, it melts before it can reach it at all!" Adrian exclaimed as he threw another fireball at the dragon which did nothing at all. Heylel looked with a frown on his face as he thought of an idea. "There must be something or someway that can stop that dragon!" He was in his train of thoughts, so busy that he forgot a Molten magma shooting lizard was infront of him. "LOOK OUT!" Adrian held Heylel's right hand as he jumped out of the way of the flaming ball dragging the boy with him. Heylel looked behind him to see a trail of smoke pass by as the ball of magma continued it's path crashing along a stone brick wall. "That was too close!" Heylel said as he looked infront of him with worry but his eyes suddenly grew as he saw the sight infront of him. Laying down on the ground was Adrian, his face flushed with a red tinted color as he looked nervously at his best friend. With this sight, Heylel blushed as well and awkwardly said "Hi..." in which Adrian responded "Hi." as he smiled and looked at Heylel with a massive smile on his face. They both smiled at each other until a sudden roar was heard and a flame breathing dragon was seen galloping like a horse towards the two boys who scrambled to their knees but was not fast enough so Adrian built an ice wall large enough so that the dragon could not jump and thick enough so that it would take long for it to melt with it's fiery breath. "HAHA! You did it!" Heylel cheered as he helped Adrian on to his feet and hugged him tightly, the hug being reciprocated. A shadow then soon appeared above the two boys. Shit. Was what the two boys had In mind when they saw the drake flying above them, it's massive wings flapping slowly but powerfully, causing strong wind to blow down on the two of them. The two looked at each other and nodded. They stood up and ran as fast as they could. Splitting up, with Adrian going to the right and Heylel going to the left. The dragon flew and curved to the left to chase Heylel down. The boy looked behind and saw the dragon getting closer and closer, his heart ramming faster and faster as the beast opened it's mouth to show 3 layers of sharp teeth that could easily chop through human flesh. Heylel continued to run faster, the dragon gaining speed, it's mouth getting closer and closer, Heylel closed his eyes wishing that he had done more before he would get eaten by a dragon. A sudden explosion made Heylel open his eyes and look back where the dragon stumbled unto the ground, an arrow made of Solid ice plunged into it's scaly flesh. The dragon roared as he looked to where the arrow came from. There, behind the rubble, Adrian was standing with a bow made out of solid ice, it's surface glistening under the sun, the string, on fire as the smoke that supposedly should go up, went into the middle where it took the form of an arrow, with that, Adrian breathed in and the smoke suddenly became frozen, It's smokey figure suddenly becoming solid as Adrian's hand touched it. The arrow was aimed at the dragon, but Adrian, knowing that normal ice would melt before it could reach the dragon, and fire which barely dealt damage to it, thought of another way to fight the beast. The arrow made of ice soon emitted white smoke, starting to glow red which soon set on fire, the ice staying frozen even if it was surrounded by blazing flames. Adrian focused his eyes to the beast who was about to get up, seeing this, the boy pulled back the draw string causing the flame to turn blue, crackling as the ice under started to harden even more. Once Adrian let go of the arrow, it's momentum soon became so fast that a the ground it flew over was set ablaze, red flames engulfed the grass as the arrow flew closer and closer to the dragon, the beast tried to block the flaming arrow with it's wing, covering it's body.  The combination of two powerful elements were much more powerful than before, it's force causing it to rip through the skin of the wing and continue hurling at the body, which pierced the dragon, the flame suddenly bursting, causing an explosion that made the ice c***k under it's pressure, the cracks letting water drip down the dragon's belly, suddenly becoming frozen. The dragon howled as it began to freeze over. With this opening, Heylel took his chance and ran over Adrian who was watching his spell work.  "That was too close for comfort!" Heylel breathed heavily as he looked at the beast which was slowly getting frozen by the ice spell that Adrian cast. "We have to get that dragon out of here, And fast." Adrian looked over worriedly at Heylel. The boy nodded and approached the now sleeping beast. He sighed and pressed his hand over it's body, golden light appeared and massive vines began to sprout from the ground, wrapping around the dragon, it's long tentacle-like structure lifting the beast up from the ground. "Shall we?" Heylel smiled and looked behind him. Adrian chuckled as he started to walk towards the boy and the beast. The two of them started to walk side to side with the vines getting longer and longer as it carried the dragon in the air. "We have to find a place to let this guy go." Heylel said while thinking of a way to let the dragon go. "Wait, wait, wait, Hold up. You want to let that dragon go?!" Adrian stopped on his tracks and pointed at the beast which was wrapped by vines. Heylel nodded with which Adrian responded "Why? I mean, it hurt your father! It hurt a lot of people! it even burned down our village!" Heylel just sighed and continued to walk, which Adrian followed and the vine trailed beside them. "Remember the time when you first talked to me?" Heylel asked while looking straight ahead. "Well, yeah of course! You were literally being chased down by a pack of angry were-spiders!"  "Well, that's because I accidently got too close to their nesting grounds. They only wanted to protect where they lived." Heylel said with a smile. "Same goes for that dragon. It didn't just attack blindly, it was it's instinct to protect the lands it grew up on. We are merely visitors to this world. The animals that live here were the first to find this place which makes it theirs. And it's their right to protect the land where they walk upon. It must have thought we were hurting the other animals cause it first burned down the animal hospital which had the unicorns on leashes outside." Heylel exclaimed, never once letting the smile on his face go. "I guess... I never thought of it that way..." Adrian scratched the back of his neck and chuckled softly. "Fine... we can let him go." Heylel smiled at his Bestfriends remarks and Continued walking to the hill near Heylel's house. "We could lay him near the forest and I'll grow trees to make him think he's no longer in the village." Heylel suggested. "Sounds good." Adrian nodded and looked at the dragon which was soundlessly sleeping due to exhaustion. "Hey look! It's the scythe you made!" Heylel ran up to the icy weapon on the ground and picked it up, flowers growing when his hand touched the dirt. He picked it up and showed it to Adrian. Who just chuckled and continued to walk. Heylel suddenly remembered the cool trick that Adrian did a while ago, so he looked at his Bestfriend with eyes made up of daggers. Adrian felt the cold stare and chuckled nervously. "What?" He asked while walking near the river. "You! How did you do the thingy with the thing that made the thing go Kaboom-" Heylel was cut short when he heard the roar of the dragon which was trailing behind them wake up. "s**t, the spell must have ended! We have to hurry before it fully wakes up!" Adrian said in a hurried tone and sprinted towards the clearing near the forest. The two boys reached the clearing and looked behind only to see the vines were already ablaze and the dragon nowhere to be seen. A loud thud suddenly was heard which was followed by a growl. "It's right behind us, isn't it?" Adrian asked in which Heylel just nodded. "Well shit."
