Chapter 3

1225 Words
ALEX'S POV I know that I probably over reacted and it wasn’t really necessary to lock her in her room. For sure she understood what I was trying to do. She will forgive me until tomorrow. Ya, she will…… God dammit. She will aim straight for my neck as soon as she puts a foot outside that room. I said to myself, storming inside the room from one corner to another. What if I simply unlock her and apologize for my stupid actions? No. She will think that I am weak and she will never ever listen to me. Hm, a present should do it. But what can I offer her? What will be good enough to make her forget about my neck? Ahhhhhh this is killing me. What the hell was I thinking? How am I going to fix it? I was lying on the bed exhausted by the tumult of thoughts in my head, still searching for the best solution to solve the situation, when I heard the noise. Something just broke in the room next to mine. It sounded like a broken glass. I didn’t finish the thought and I stormed out of my room . I didn’t even care that I didn’t have the key with me to unlock the door. The window was already broken. Why not do the same with the door? I thought and with ease I slammed it on the wall. For a second, I could see those angry blue eyes just before they disappeared in the dark of the night. My heart stopped for a second. I jumped from the window without thinking twice. I was so scared. I will never forgive myself if she ever gets hurt because of me. I was calling her over and over again but there was no answer. Why was the night so dark? I couldn’t see anything. Suddenly, I see someone coming with a torch. It was one of my maids, Olivia. She was in pajamas with a blanket covering her upper part. “Did something happen, Alex?” she asked. I didn’t even answer her, but I grabbed the torch from her hand and I continued searching the area. She couldn’t be that far. It was so dark outside that she could never see where she was going. I was sure she'd stumbled somewhere nearby. I never imagined that I could be so wrong about her. “Have you lost something, brother?” the voice finally answered. I looked up and I couldn’t believe my eyes. She was in the tree in front of her room. How did she do that? All those years she never attended, not even one of the pack trainings. I never saw her fighting or defending herself, not even running. Ya, I never saw her running but now she was there, in a tree. “How did you end up there?” Get down immediately!” I ordered her, not even trying to change the tone of my voice. I was demanding of her…again. “No”. The answer came just like that. There was no anger in her voice but a great determination and I totally got her message. She didn’t want to obey me. I closed my eyes for a few seconds and I took a deep breath. There I was again in a situation with my sister and I had no clue about how I should handle it. Suddenly the aria began to brighten more and more. I was scared to look behind me. I was sure that there were more people watching us, watching how I fooled myself in front of my sister. I can’t let them think that their future Alpha is an immature kid who doesn’t know how to handle a member of the pack, even more if that member is his own weak little sister. So, I just had to make her get down from that tree immediately. “ I am not going to tell you again. Get down from there now or you will have to face the consequences.” My voice was calm and firm. She must obey this time. “Make me!” She answered after a few seconds, raising her chin and looking at me straight into my eyes. She was definitely challenging me. I saw red. I took a few steps behind and then I ran straight to the tree, hitting it with my shoulder. I could hear the murmurs behind my back. For sure, the viewers didn’t agree with my actions, but it was already too late. I did it. That f.....g tree only shivered its leaves a little. It was laughing at me too. “Not even close, big brother” she said, visibly sulking over my failure. That’s enough, I thought. I placed the torch on the ground because I didn’t need it anymore. The viewers were lighting the entire scene up and I ran full speed ahead and when I came back I hit the trunk of the tree again with my shoulder. This time it cracked and started to fall and that’s when I realized that she was in danger, so I jumped through the branches of the falling tree to try to get to her. I managed to spot her through all those leaves and when I reached out my hand to grab her she dodged it and jumped on the ground standing perfectly while I was a mess with all the twigs and leaves all over me. I was fine but my ego was totally hurt. What the hell just happened? I was looking at her with a lot of questions in my mind but I couldn’t ask any of them. She was looking down on me and I didn’t know exactly how I should take that. “I hope u have a good explanation for this mess, Alex.” The alpha’s voice came like a cold shower over me. What have I just done? What happened to me? I managed to pull myself together and I went to face the current Alpha. He was my father’s Beta, but after he died, he had to take the Alpha's responsibilities until I reached the age when I could take the place that was mine by right. “I’m sorry for this mess. I will take care of it.” That’s all I could answer him. I had a great respect for him, but not only because he was still the Alpha of the pack, but because he took care of me and trained me all this time just like a real father. I knew he was worried about me. In 2 days I will be named the new Alpha and I didn’t want him to think or to doubt the fact that I wasn’t ready for that. “In my office, Alex. Now!” he said and turned his back on me, waiting for me to follow him. I took one step and then I turned my head to look at the person who dragged me into all this mess. My gaze seemed to throw knives but hers was worried. I expected to see a smirk on her face and the look of triumph in her eyes but there was none of them. I turned my head and followed the Alpha into his office.
