CHAPTER6:DARKENESS

DARKNESS WITHIN Selene POV I had no idea how long I'd been out of it alive or otherwise. The last thing I recalled was me falling into darkness, and then, silence everywhere. When I opened my eyes, everything around me appeared scattered. My head felt heavy, and my body pained me in ways that were beyond comprehension. I attempted to lift myself, but my arms felt unresponsive, as if they were numb from some unknown force. The air was thick, void, and cold, sending an unsettling chill through my bones and soul. My heart raced in my chest, yet there was no sound; the silence was unreadable. Where was I? I looked at my surroundings, placing together my situation. The air felt heavy with an unnatural presence. There was no moonlight or warmth; just an endless abyss of darkness, as if I had been surrounded by the earth itself. I blinked, trying to clear the fog in my mind. That’s when I sensed it. A presence. Beyond just the dark stillness and oppressive darkness, it felt like a weight pressing upon me, something woven into the very walls of this place. Struggling to sit up, I looked around me. My vision sharpened enough for me to see the fallen stone walls, as if they had been brewed from the ground itself. I had no idea how I had ended up here, but I could feel a powerful draw. Someone was close, so close. Footsteps echoed through the space, growing nearer. Morgana. Her presence was shown like a storm on the surrounding horizon. I was not alone. I didn’t fully understand what was happening, but one thing was clear: I needed to escape. I had to find Luca. As I attempted to stand, a shiver ran through me, and my legs buckled beneath me, causing me to crash back to the ground with a jolt of pain in my spine. My heart raced. I needed to move. Yet I was trapped, so trapped. The footsteps drew closer, and a shadow fell across the doorway. Recognizing her without needing to see her face, I knew it was Morgana. She entered the room, her dark robes swirling around her like a living entity. Her eyes were void-like, and a cruel smile stretched across her lips as she regarded me. “Well, well,” she said, her voice smooth. “Look who’s awake.” I could barely look at her. Every part of me screamed to run, to fight, to do anything, but I lacked the strength. I was too broken and maybe destroyed. “Where is he?” I whispered, my voice raspy from an unremembered scream. “Where is my son?” Her smile widened, her eyes glinting with malevolence. “Luca belongs to me now. He possesses more power than you can imagine, Selene. More than anyone realizes.” I held my fists through the ache. “You’re lying,” I retorted. “He’s not yours.” Morgana's laughter sent a chill through me. “But he was. He always has been.” I shot to my feet, ignoring the sharp pain in my skull. “No!” I shouted. “He’s my son.” You can’t control him.” Her gaze darkened dangerously. “You don’t understand, Selene. His lineage isn’t merely a strength; it’s the key to everything. He’s not just a tool; he’s destiny, the equilibrium between light and dark. Soon, once I have him under my command, I’ll finally attain everything I’ve ever sought.” My chest constricted. What did her desire entail? She drew closer, shadows swirling around her in a dangerous dance. “You won’t stop me, Selene. You never could. You’ve always been too weak.” Her words stung, but I refused to give up. “I will never let you have him,” I said, my voice shaking but resolute. “You’ll have to kill me first.” For just a moment, Morgana’s smile faltered, revealing a flicker of something deeper, perhaps regret? A c***k in her shape. But it vanished as quickly as it appeared. “I will, Selene,” she replied, her tone icy and cold. “I’ll kill you and seize your son." There’s nothing you can do to prevent it. You’ve never had the strength.” I felt the ground shift beneath me, the stone walls tightening their grip. “No,” I whispered. “I won’t allow you to win.” She advanced, her hands shaking with dark and dangerous energy. “You have no choice.” As she raised her hand, shadows reached toward me, the oppressive power in the air pressing down like an unyielding weight. And then I heard it. A scream. A heart-wrenching scream that felt as if it tore my heart from my chest. I froze. Luca. Morgana halted, her eyes flickering with something unreadable. The scream echoed again, louder this time. Before my mind could catch up, I dashed toward the door. But Morgana's voice held me back. “Don’t bother,” she taunted. “You can’t save him.” He already belongs to me. I couldn’t hear her. I wouldn’t. I ran. The stone hallways twisted and turned, dim torches casting a dark glow. My heart raced as I ran, desperately trying to drown out the chaotic thudding in my ears. I didn’t know where I was headed. I no longer cared. Luca was screaming. And I had to reach him. Fast. I ran through the corridors, the walls surrounded me. My breath came in ragged gasps, my muscles burning, but I pressed on. I couldn’t afford to stop. I reached another set of doors, yet something stopped me. A force so hard and overwhelming that I could barely breathe. I fell backward, struggling for air. What was happening? Then, a soft and distant voice echoed in my mind. “The truth lies in the past, Selene.” Those words were clear and vivid, immediately halting me. The voice continued, gentle yet urgent. “You must remember. You need to go back.” The air thickened as if the universe was shifting. And then Memories flooded back. The day I first met Kieran. The moment he rejected me. That day I abandoned everything. And intertwined with those memories was another presence. A shadow. A woman. Morgana. She had been there, whispering in Kieran's ear, the reason for his rejection. I recalled it all. My heart pounded. The pieces clicked into place. Morgana had not only desired Kieran, she aimed to destroy me, clearing my ties with him. Now, she intended to exploit Luca for her personal goals. But there was one thing she failed to anticipate. I was not broken. I have endured the worst. I have learned to fight. And I would fight for my son. I pushed through the force that had been stalling me, the doors swinging wide. What awaited me inside froze me in place. Luca stood at the room's center, his back turned. His eyes were dark and vacant, his face toxic and dangerous. But it wasn’t truly him. It was Morgana’s influence on him. And beside him Kieran. He held Luca’s hand. The expression in his eyes was devoid of affection. It was a betrayal. I stood still, my heart shattering. No. No, no, no! Kieran was with her……
