Chapter 5. Ada's POV

1089 Words
Ahh why is it when I need something I can't seem to find it. Its so frustrating! I had planned to wear my little black dress for tonight as we had been asked to dress smart for the occasion and I thought a little black dress is smart and also won't bring too much attention to me. I mean being a half breed to those lot I didn't need anything else that would make me stand out really did I. Although I do feel quite lucky that I have this cabin all to myself, a lot of the 'full breeds' are asked to share their apartments with another, where as us half breeds they want us as far away from them as possible so we are located in our own cabin at the bottom of the grounds. I quite like it, I've been alone most of my life so its no different for me. Also, when I'm not working it gives me chance to work on my drawings. I tend to draw things that I see in my dreams. I feel like each drawing has a meaning but I haven't been able to figure it out yet. Back to the task in hand. The only other thing I can see in my wardrobe is my navy blue off the shoulder dress. It is one of my favourites but I didn't want to wear it here. I suppose it'll have to do and it does meet the requirements so I can't get better than that can I. I've paired my dress with my trusty little black kitten heels, as I still need to be somewhat comfortable as i'll be on my feet until the event is finished. With that my very rarely worn chilli red lipstick. It was my mother's. When my parents were banished and had to leave me with the Manor they left items of them both in my belongings so I could feel close to them. I rarely wear it just because I don't want to use it up so I make sure I use this on special occasions. It makes me feel closer to her when I put it on, I feel like I can sense her. I can't cry not tonight, we got things to do Ada, I said to myself. I had curled my hair earlier on today to give it a little more bounce through the night. I think I am about ready. I stepped outside my cabin and walked down the wooden staircase, to where I could see the visitors arriving. I made my way up the pathway as this was well lit by the tree lights. I still couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following me, but again everytime I looked around there was no one insight. Just then I was forced to jump onto the grass edge as a car came speeding towards me. My heels sinking in to the grass almost causing me to go over on my ankle. What the hell is wrong with them, absolute arse. I pulled myself out of the grass and stepped back on to the gravel pathway. There I stood, directly behind the car that veered me off the path, I don't even think they noticed me. As the smoke from there car cleared in the air, I saw the driver step outside, he turned to face me. He was very attractive, his face sculptured just like his body. He looks expensive, his very fitting suit, shiny dress shoes showed me so. 'Are you stupid!' I exclaimed. His face hardened, I knew I shouldn't have said anything, lately I can't control my anger I just wanted to confront anyone that did me wrong. I could see that he was pissed. 'what did you say to me girl.' his voice deep as if it were said through gritted teeth. I then watched as two other passengers jumped out the car and were stood by his side. Both had similar styles to the driver, expensive taste and neither of them looked too pleased with me to be honest. There necks cracked in unison and I knew then it was my call to leave. This was one fight I didn't want to get in to. I shot across through the main doors causing the wind to follow behind me. I got to the kitchen as quickly as possible but I knew i would end up seeing them at somepoint when we bring the food to the table. Pulling my apron from the hanger my hands were shaking that much I struggled to tie it. 'I've got it' a sweet voice said from behind me. It was Ellie one of the girls from earlier in the kitchen, she's a half breed like me although I've never heard her speak before now. Her voice is like silk, it was very beautiful and delicate just like her. Her face has a very youthful appearance but when you look into her eyes you can see the years of pain she has suffered. This girl has such a sweet nature she doesn't deserve the treatment that's been handed to her. 'Thanks Ellie, I'm not sure what's going on with me today!' I laughed, hoping to sound belivable. She walked back to the other side of the kitchen island and bowed her head, I waited, I knew she wanted to say something but was struggling. She finally looked up at me, her face with the look of concern and said. 'those men you were talking to outside, I, I don't trust them. Somethings not right, I can sense a lot of people's emotions but there's I can't and that's not always a good thing' her eyes dropped towards the surface again, feeling defeated because she is unable to read their feelings. 'Your senses are on top form, they are not good people at all and I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. When we go out there please keep your head down and avoid any eye contact with them, OK?' I said wanting some reassurance back. Ellie gave me a nod and that was enough. As the clock hit 8pm, it was mine and Ellies time to take out the dishes to the dining room. We knew that it would be ram packed in there with the guests but I hope our team who are serving the drinks can keep them out of our way, we know everyone loves a cheeky drink right. 'You ready... Lets go'
