The phone vibrated in Adrian’s hand.
Memories of regret echoed in his mind.
In his past life, he didn’t hesitate.
He answered with anger. With pride.

But now—
Adrian took a slow breath and pressed answer.
“Hello…”
There was silence for a moment.
“…Adrian? Are you okay?” Lily’s voice came, soft and filled with concern.
Adrian froze.
He never noticed it before.
The way she cared.
The way she worried.
“I’m fine,” he said quietly.
“You don’t sound fine,” Lily replied gently. “Why did you leave like that?”
Adrian closed his eyes.

But not this time.
“I just needed some space,” he said calmly. “But… I’m okay now.”
“…Really?”
“Yeah. Don’t worry.”
There was a pause, then a small sigh of relief.
“Just… come home if you can, okay?”

“…I will.”
