UNDER THEIR CONTROL

Chapter 5: ALESSIA “Bring her in.” The moment Azriel’s voice echoed through the mansion, something inside me tightened. It wasn’t just the command… it was the way my body reacted to it. My chest rose unevenly as I stepped forward, my heels clicking softly against the polished floor, each sound echoing louder than it should in the heavy silence that surrounded me. The deeper I walked into the mansion, the thicker the air became—dense, overwhelming, like I had just crossed into a place where power wasn’t questioned… it was absolute. Every instinct in me told me to turn back. But I couldn’t. Not anymore. Asher walked just behind me, close enough for me to feel his presence without him even touching me. It was suffocating in a way I didn’t understand—like being watched, studied… claimed, even without permission. “Relax, doctor,” he murmured softly, his voice brushing too close to my ear. “You’re trembling.” I hadn’t even realized it. I clenched my fists slightly, forcing my body to steady as we finally stepped into a large room. The moment I entered, my breath caught. The space was dimly lit, the shadows stretching across the walls, giving the entire room a dangerous, almost intimate feel. This wasn’t a hospital setting. There was no sterile smell, no bright lights, no sense of control. This was their space. And I was completely out of my depth. Axel leaned casually against a table, his arms crossed, his expression unreadable—but his eyes… his eyes followed my every movement like he was already calculating something. Azriel stood near the window, his back partially turned, but the moment I stepped in, he slowly turned to face me. And just like that— Everything shifted. My breath hitched as his gaze locked onto mine, sharp and intense, like he could see through every layer I tried to hide behind. The air between us grew heavier, charged with something I couldn’t explain. Why does it feel like this? Why does it feel like… something is pulling me toward them? “You’re late,” Axel said flatly. My brows pulled together slightly. “I came as soon as I could. I’m not—” “A servant?” Asher cut in lightly, stepping around me now, his lips curving into a faint smile. “No… you’re something much more interesting than that.” I ignored him, tightening my grip on my bag. “Let’s get this over with. What exactly do you expect me to do?” Silence fell. Not empty silence. Heavy silence. The kind that made your skin prickle. Azriel moved first. Slow, Controlled, Dangerous. Each step he took toward me made my heartbeat rise, my body tensing without permission. By the time he stopped in front of me, I could feel the heat radiating off him, could smell that same intoxicating scent that had unsettled me earlier. “You’re the doctor,” he said quietly, his voice low, steady. “You tell us.” My throat went dry. I forced myself to focus, to remember why I was here. Professional. Stay professional. “I need to examine you properly,” I said, keeping my voice as steady as I could. “All three of you.” A faint smirk touched Asher’s lips. “All three?” he repeated, amused. Heat crept up my neck, but I didn’t back down. “You’re all patients. That’s how this works.” For a moment, none of them moved. Then, slowly… Axel pushed himself off the table. Asher exhaled softly, like he was entertained by this. Azriel didn’t break eye contact with me. “Fine,” he said. The word sent a strange shiver through me. They didn’t resist. They didn’t argue. That alone felt wrong. Too easy. “Sit,” I said, gesturing toward the couch. The word left my mouth naturally—firm, controlled. And the moment it did— All three of them froze. My heart skipped. What…? A second passed. Then another. And slowly— They obeyed. My breath caught sharply in my throat as I watched them sit. Not hesitantly. Not mockingly. But… obediently. The realization hit me hard, sending a wave of confusion through my chest. No. That wasn’t normal. “That…” I whispered under my breath, shaking my head slightly. “That was a coincidence.” It had to be. It didn’t make sense otherwise. “Interesting,” Axel muttered, his eyes narrowing slightly as he watched me. Asher leaned back, his gaze locked onto me with something that wasn’t just amusement anymore—it was curiosity. But Azriel… Azriel’s expression had changed completely. Darkened. Focused. Like he had just found something he wasn’t expecting. “Continue, doctor,” he said quietly. My fingers tightened slightly as I stepped closer, forcing myself to ignore the tension building around me. I reached out, placing my hand lightly against Axel’s chest first, trying to check his heartbeat. The moment my skin touched his— His body tensed. Sharply. His breath hitched, almost inaudible, but I felt it. My eyes snapped up to his. “What was that?” I asked before I could stop myself. He didn’t answer immediately. His jaw tightened slightly, his gaze hardening—but not in anger. In control. “I should be asking you that,” he replied. My heart started racing again. I pulled my hand back quickly, my thoughts spiraling. This isn’t normal. None of this is normal. I turned toward Asher next, hesitating for only a second before placing my hand against him as well. Same reaction. Tension. Sharp intake of breath. Restraint. I swallowed hard, my pulse climbing higher. By the time I turned to Azriel… I already knew something was wrong. But nothing could have prepared me for what happened next. The moment my hand touched him— It felt like something snapped. A sudden, overwhelming wave of heat rushed through me, so strong it stole the air from my lungs. My body reacted instantly, my fingers pressing slightly against him as my breath hitched uncontrollably. Azriel’s reaction was worse. His hand shot out, gripping my wrist—not to hurt me, but to stop me. His breathing was uneven now. His eyes darker than before. “What… did you just do?” he asked, his voice lower than I had heard it before. “I didn’t—” I started, but my voice failed me. Because I felt it too. Something deep inside me… shifting. Waking up. “Stop,” I said instinctively, my voice sharper than I intended. And just like that— He froze. Completely. His grip on my wrist loosened instantly. His breathing steadied. Like I had just… calmed him. My eyes widened. Silence filled the room again, heavier than before. But this time… It wasn’t just tension. It was realization. Asher let out a quiet laugh, but there was no humor in it now. Axel sat forward slowly, his eyes fixed on me like he was seeing me for the first time. And Azriel… Azriel didn’t look away. “Do that again,” he said softly. My heart pounded violently in my chest. “What?” “Command me,” he said, his voice dropping even lower. “Again.” A chill ran through my body. “No,” I whispered, shaking my head. “I don’t know what’s happening—” “You do,” Axel cut in sharply. “You just don’t understand it yet.” My breathing became uneven, my thoughts spiraling out of control. This wasn’t medical. This wasn’t normal. This was something else. Something deeper. Something dangerous. Azriel took a slow step closer, his eyes locked onto mine with an intensity that made it impossible to look away. “You’re not here to cure us, doctor,” he said quietly. My chest tightened. “Then why am I here?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. A slow, knowing look passed between the three of them. And then— Azriel spoke. “You’re the reason we’re like this.” My breath stopped. “What…?” His gaze darkened slightly, his voice dropping into something deeper… something final. “Our wolves…” he said slowly, “they don’t respond to anyone.” A pause. Heavy. Deliberate. Then— “They respond to you.” The room spun. My heart pounded violently as his words sank in, each one hitting harder than the last. No. That’s not possible. That doesn’t make sense. But before I could say anything— Asher leaned forward slightly, his eyes gleaming with something dangerous. “And that means one thing, doctor…” he murmured. My chest tightened. Fear. Confusion. Something else I couldn’t name. “…you’re not just our cure.” My breath caught. And then Axel finished it. “You’re ours.” My entire body went still. The words echoed in my head— Loud,Final and Terrifying Because deep down… A part of me already knew— Nothing about this was going to end after one month.
