The Chief sat in his office, reviewing the grainy footage again. Crystal’s car in the lot, her figure lingering near the van—it was enough to place her there, but not enough to prove she had done the damage. He needed more. He needed her words. A knock at the door pulled him from his thoughts. When he looked up, Jon stood in the doorway, his expression uneasy but determined. “Chief,” Jon began, stepping inside. “I know I’m probably the last person you want to see, but I need to say this.
