The last time he looked at the glass walls of the hospital was flooding his mind. He realized that many things in life were beyond our control. Yet there is love. There is hope. And there is waiting. The fight is still going on inside the hospital. The doctors are trying. Every heartbeat is becoming a prayer. Suddenly, the sound of the monitor stopped. The doctors looked at each other. A very subtle glimmer of hope seemed to flash. James still had tears in his eyes, a pain in his heart, but a strange firmness was born inside. This is how this tragic chapter revolves around Sophia in James's life is about to end. The silence of the hospital, the glass walls of the ICU, the relentless efforts of the doctors, and in a deep, silent prayer, life is incomplete here, wrapped in pain, yet unbroken in love. And the only question that comes to James's mind is... is it really the end, or is there still a miracle dawn left? The nurse working in the hospital's emergency department quickly took Sophia's ID card and called the legal guardian's number written on it. There was urgency and responsibility in her voice. There was silence on the other end of the phone for a few moments, then a worried voice came through. The nurse briefly explained the situation. There was no time to waste, we had to reach the hospital as quickly as possible. About half an hour later, a man hurriedly appeared in the hospital corridor. His panting, disheveled hair, and worried expression seemed to indicate his anxiety. He just ran the path, racing against time. The man came and said, “I am… Sophia’s legal guardian. I was called…” His voice was filled with fatigue and fear. A doctor and a police officer were standing in front of him, discussing another patient. Seeing the man approaching, the doctor asked, “Are you Mr. Stephen?” The man nodded slowly. “Yes… I’m Stephen. Sophia is my brother’s daughter. Ever since her parents died in a terrible accident… I’ve been raising her.” His voice gradually became heavier. It was as if each word was tearing pain from his chest. The doctor looked at him silently for a moment. Then he said in a serious voice, “His condition is very critical. We are trying our best to save him… but to be honest, there is very little hope.” These words seemed to make the air in the corridor even heavier. Stephen said nothing. He just stared straight ahead with fixed eyes, as if he still couldn't fully accept reality. Just then, another doctor came running up and said something urgent to the doctor in charge of Sophia. The concern was clear on his face. The situation suddenly became more complicated. The doctor told the police officer to stay there and quickly walked towards the operation theatre. The corridor fell silent again. But within that silence was an invisible pain. Time seemed to pass slowly. The clock was ticking, but to Stephen, every minute seemed long and painful. After about an hour, the doors of the operating theater opened. Sophia's doctor came out. His eyes were tired, his face worried. He slowly approached Stephen. "Mr. Stephen," he began, "an emergency has occurred." Stephen stared at her silently. The doctor said, “A while ago, another girl, Sophia’s age, was brought to our hospital. Her heart was severely damaged in a terrible accident… and her face was badly burned. We're operating on him now, but..." He paused. "He urgently needs a healthy heart and mouth transplant to survive." Stephen's heart trembled. He understood a little of what the doctor was trying to say. Still, he said nothing. The doctor said again slowly, “You know Sophia’s condition… her chances of survival are very slim. But…” He looked into Stephen’s eyes, "If you allow it, Sophia's heart and mouth can be donated to that girl. Then at least she will survive. And a part of Leyla will live on in someone else's life." As soon as the words ended, a deep silence fell in the corridor. Stephen seemed to freeze. Tears filled his eyes. He slowly looked at the glass walls of the ICU. Inside, Sophia lay. Silent, unconscious, but still her beloved. He remembered the Sophia of his childhood. She was cheerful, kind, and loved to think of everyone. She couldn't stay silent when someone cried. Stephen's lips trembled. He said slowly, “She was very kind since she was a child… always wanting to help others…” His voice broke. He stood silent for a moment, feeling as if he had to make a huge decision in these few moments, a decision that would change his own life forever. Finally, she said, trembling, “If… if he never comes back… then… let another girl live with his heart and face.” Tears welled up in his eyes. “I give permission…” The doctor nodded silently. A glimmer of respect and gratitude seemed to well up in his eyes. “Thank you.” Then everything started happening quickly. There was a strange silence in the corridor, and amidst it the doctors were busy. After a while, the ICU door opened and a doctor came out.
