Emily said again,
“What happened? Why were you silent?”
James just stared at her. Emily's hair was blowing in the light breeze, and that moment seemed to be stuck somewhere outside of time.
“I…” James said, but couldn't say the rest.
Emily smiled softly and said,
“You're very strange. There are so many questions in your eyes, but no words on your face. Do you talk very little?”
James found some courage.
“What do you want me to ask?”
Emily looked at her for a moment and said,
“Let’s talk while walking. If we stand, the words won’t come out.”
The two of them started walking side by side. Evening had fallen all around them. The sky was a strange mix of blue and orange. A dog could be heard barking in the distance.
