DAMIAN’S POV Lira was warm in my arms, her fingers played with the buttons of my shirt as I climbed the stairs with her. “Put me down,” she mumbled, but made no effort to move. “You’ll fall,” I said, trying to steady her well with my hand. “I already did…” she whispered, then looked up at me through half-lidded eyes. “Into your arms. So cheesy, right?” I clenched my jaw. God help me. Her breath was warm against my neck. My steps slowed as we reached the room. I didn’t want to admit how much I liked the way she felt in my arms, or the way her perfume made my thoughts scatter.
