The room was quiet and tense. Not long after, the director walked into the office. Harold quickly stood up from his seat and cleared his throat. His eyes moved to the door, and then he noticed Lira. The director followed his eyes and saw her too. He forced a smile, but it was not real. His smile looked heavy, and his body seemed stiff. He looked uncomfortable, as if her presence made him uneasy “Lira,” he said softly. “How have you been?” Lira gave him a small smile, though she did not trust him.
