Nadira and Ade walked in silence, the city lights twinkling around them like diamonds. They had finally exposed Victor's true nature, and the weight of the secret was lifting off their shoulders.
As they walked, Nadira's mind was racing. She had so many questions, so many things she wanted to know. "Ade, what happened to you all these years?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ade took a deep breath, his eyes clouding over with memories. "I was taken by Victor's men, and I was sold to a human trafficking ring. I was only a baby, Nadira. I don't remember much, but I remember the fear, the pain, and the loneliness."
Nadira's heart ached with sympathy. She couldn't imagine what Ade must have gone through. "I'm so sorry, Ade," she said, her voice shaking. "I'm so sorry I wasn't there to protect you."
Ade smiled, his eyes shining with tears. "It's not your fault, Nadira. You were just a baby too. But I'm glad we're together now. We're finally together."
Nadira nodded, feeling a sense of gratitude and love for her brother. She knew that they still had a long way to go, but she was ready to face whatever came next.
As they approached their mother's house, Nadira saw Ifeoma standing on the porch, her eyes red from crying.
"Ifeoma, what's wrong?" Nadira asked, her voice filled with concern.
Ifeoma took a deep breath. "Mom's gone, Nadira. She left a letter for you."
Nadira's heart skipped a beat. "What do you mean? Where did she go?"
Ifeoma handed her the letter, her eyes filled with tears. "Read it, Nadira. It's from Mom."
Nadira took the letter, her hands shaking. She opened it, and began to read.
"My dear Nadira,
I'm so sorry I had to leave like this, but I knew I had to protect you and Ade. Victor is a dangerous man, and I knew he would stop at nothing to destroy our family. I've been fighting to keep you safe, to keep Ade safe, but I know I can't do it alone.
Ade is your twin brother, Nadira. He was taken from us, and I spent years searching for him. But I knew he was alive, and I knew I would find him.
I know I kept secrets from you, Nadira, but it was to protect you. Your father...he's not who you think he is. He's been working with Victor all along, and I knew I had to get out.
Be strong, Nadira. Be brave. Protect Ade, and protect yourself. I love you both so much.
Mom"
Nadira felt like she'd been punched in the gut. Her mother was gone, and her father was involved in Ade's kidnapping. She didn't know what to feel, what to think.
Ade put his arm around her, his eyes filled with concern. "It's always okay to be scared, Nadira. But we'll face this together, okay?"
Nadira nodded, feeling a sense of determination. She would get to the bottom of this, no matter what it took.
As they walked into the house, Nadira saw her father sitting in the living room, his eyes filled with guilt.
"Hello, Nadira," he said, his voice shaking. "I know you know the truth."
Nadira's eyes narrowed. "You should be ashamed of yourself," she spat. "How could you do this to us?"
Her father took a deep breath. "I was weak, Nadira. I was in debt to Victor, and I didn't know how to get out. But I love you, and I love Ade. I'll do whatever it takes to make it right."
Nadira's eyes flashed with anger. "It's too late for that," she said. "You should have thought of that before you betrayed us."
As the night wore on, Nadira and Ade sat with their father, listening to his confession. They learned that he had been working with Victor to cover up a business deal gone wrong, and that Victor had used it to blackmail him.
Nadira's heart ached with sadness. She had lost her mother, and her father was a stranger to her.
But as she looked at Ade, she knew that she had found something special. They had found each other, and nothing could ever break that bond.
As the sun began to rise, Nadira and Ade walked out of the house, ready to face whatever came next.
The truth had been revealed, and it was time to start healing.
