TWENTY: RUNNING WITH MONSTERS The Nagafele swivelled in mid-air, narrowly missed Blott, and crashed awkwardly into the boulders behind Arcana and Artemis. Everyone scattered as it turned tail and forced a path out of the clearing. The first chance it got, it leapt onto a tree trunk and climbed high into the canopy. Once there, it waited, its slick tail hanging down like a fishing hook. Throwing back its head, it bellowed. Everyone fell silent. Their fears were realised seconds later when a reply drifted on the breeze from further up the hillside. Blott held his stance, staring defiantly at the black shape in the canopy. He couldn’t believe that he wasn’t a brownish stain crushed into the rock. The monster could have mowed him down without getting a scratch on it. His legs were trembling
