CHAPTER-7 There was no drama rehearsal at school today. So Ethan woke up a little late. He hadn't slept well last night either. He didn't know why he felt this way lately. After breakfast, he felt like playing the piano. The exams are over, and the results were good. His parents are very proud and happy. They have many dreams for Ethan. They know Ethan will never disappoint them. All their relatives are very proud of Ethan. Everyone wants to raise their children like Ethan. Ethan was playing the piano haphazardly. Ethan had been trying to write lyrics for a song for two days. Some lines fit together beautifully, but others just won't. That's why Ethan is very annoyed. Because if all the lines don't fit, he won't be able to compose a melody for the lyrics. And when Ethan can't properly match or write the lyrics of a song, his mood gets very bad. To fix his mood, he usually starts playing random tunes on the piano. This gives him three benefits... 1. Ethan finds new words and lines that inspire him to write lyrics. 2. It calms Ethan's mood in an instant. 3. It helps him find the melody for the lyrics he has written. Whatever comes to Ethan's mind while playing the piano, he immediately writes it down in the notebook kept beside him. After playing the piano for a long time, Ethan realized that his father, Adam Parker, was standing behind him. Seeing his father when he turned around, Ethan stopped playing the piano and stood up. His father's company always brings him great joy. His father is both his friend and mentor. He and his father, Adam Parker, could discuss any topic for hours. They never get tired. One day, they spent two hours discussing a painting by Leonardo da Vinci, completely oblivious to the passage of time. The father-son relationship was friendly, sweet, and strong. Adam Parker's gaze fell upon the notebook lying next to Ethan. He tilted his head slightly and recited the lines of the lyrics aloud. Ethan looked at his father with a curious expression and asked... Ethan: How are the lyrics? Adam Parker: You haven't become that proficient at writing lyrics yet. But I think these lyrics are going to be very beautiful. What's the matter? Are you reading a lot of poetry books these days? Ethan: Yes, Dad, you're right. I’m trying to read the poems of some famous poets from the medieval period, which is why I’ve collected some books from the library. However, I can’t finish reading all of them. You know that we’re having drama rehearsals at school, and I need to dedicate time to those. I want the play to be staged beautifully. Adam Parker: Hmm, I know everything. Don't worry, you're all putting in a lot of time in the rehearsals. Your hard work will surely not go to waste. I'm very proud of all of you. Ethan: Thank you, Dad. Adam Parker: How many more days do you have to practice? When can we enjoy the final performance? Ethan: You won't have to wait much longer, Dad. Everyone will be able to see our performance next week. Adam Parker: Hmm, that's good. I'm eagerly waiting. Only a few more days left. Ethan noticed that his father's face suddenly looked gloomy; he seemed very worried. Ethan understood what his father was worried about. Ethan: Is there a problem, Dad? Are you very worried about something? Adam Parker: Hmm... Adam Parker seemed somewhat distracted. Ethan: Can you tell me? Adam Parker: Of course, you are my son. If I don't tell you, who will I tell? You know your grandparents are getting old now. And we spent many years in Virginia expanding the business. Now our business has expanded well. Ethan: Yes, Dad, you have always been successful in whatever you've started. You are one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country. But this surely isn't the reason for your tension. Adam Parker: It's not the reason for my worry, you're right. Ethan: I know what you're so worried about. You're actually worried about our grandparents. And you want to return to them, to our permanent home, as soon as possible. Am I right? Adam Parker: Hmm, that's why I'm proud of you. You are my son. That's why you understand me so well. May all parents have a son like you. Ethan: Oh! Dad, you are truly great. You understand the feelings of your parents, my beloved grandparents. You stand by them in their time of need. You start worrying about them when they fall ill; all of this is the foundation of family values. And I have grown up with those values. You raised me with the teachings of those family values, didn't you? Adam Parker: Yes, I hope you will continue this tradition. The next generation will be our pride. Ethan: What do you want now? Adam Parker: I want all of us, you, me, and your mother, to return to California. Ethan: Yes, I know. But you can't do it because of me. Adam Parker: Yes, you've guessed correctly. You've been here for many years. You've become very comfortable here. The biggest thing is that you, Della, and Lucas are good friends. And that's what worries me. How will you manage without them? Ethan had been listening to everything his father said very attentively. He knows how much his parents love him. But they cannot understand that Ethan has grown up. Their little boy is no longer a child. Ethan now has his own likes and dislikes. Ethan: Dad, don't you understand? I'm all grown up now. Don't worry about me so much. Besides, the three of us are very good friends. No matter where we go, we'll stay in touch. (Adam Parker looked somewhat worried) Adam Parker: Hmm, I hope so. May your friendship last forever. Ethan: Dad, I have a wish. Adam Parker: Alright, tell me. Ethan: I want to attend a university in New York for higher education and launch my career there. I've talked to Della about this. She agrees too. Adam Parker: What you want isn't unreasonable at all. But why do you want to involve Della in your plan? Don't you know Della won't want to go anywhere without her mother? Ethan: Della requested it, and her mother had also given her consent. Adam Parker: What are you saying? Ethan: Yes, I was talking to Della about my plans. She became very excited. Adam Parker: Then? Ethan: Della requested that I take her with me. Adam Parker: But how did Della convince her mother? Ethan: She hasn't fully agreed yet. Della and I went to her mother's. I explained everything to her. She has given partial consent. Adam Parker: Does Lucas know anything about this? Ethan: No, actually, I suddenly started thinking about this plan. Della was with me, so when I told her about it, she agreed. I don't see Lucas much during rehearsals. So I couldn't tell him. Adam Parker: Yes, listen then. I want you to help with business in California. But you've thought of so many things without telling me. Della has also become a part of your plans. Ha... ha... After hearing Ethan's words, the cloud of tension on Adam's face cleared, and a sunny smile appeared. He now looked at Ethan with a suspicious gaze. Raising his eyebrows, he said, "What's the matter? Are you thinking about Della too much these days?" Ethan understood what his father was hinting at. But he pretended that he didn't understand anything. He truly had started thinking about Della a lot lately. Not just Della, he also thought about Lucas. However, when Ethan thought about Della, he felt very good. It was a different kind of good feeling. He couldn't explain it to anyone. He wanted to spend much more time with Della these days. He would miss Lucas and Della a lot when he moved to California. He would probably miss Della even more. Had he really started to love Della? Was Billy right then? Or was this just a mistaken feeling of Ethan's? He himself didn't really know. Ethan was startled by his father's words… Adam Parker: What happened? Where did you get lost again? Ha… Ha… Ethan: Dad, don't laugh like that. I don't like it. Adam Parker: I know what my son doesn't like. Ethan: What do you know? Adam Parker: My son is about to fall in love. Ethan: What do you mean? With whom! Adam Parker: Della… Della is that girl. Ethan: Huh… What are you saying, Dad!! Ethan was so embarrassed by his father's words that he himself couldn't understand them. Della was just his friend. Fathers really do become very mischievous sometimes.
