CHAPTER-11
Ethan stared at Della with his mouth agape. Della seemed very strange today. No matter what Ethan said, Della just kept laughing. Ethan couldn't understand why she was laughing. He thought he should read a book about women's mysterious behavior.
Suddenly, Ethan remembered that Della had told him on the phone that she wanted to meet him and had something to tell him.
Ethan: Della, you said you wanted to meet me. Do you want to tell me something?
Della: No, you said you wanted to tell me something.
Ethan: No, you go first, ladies first.
Della: No, Ethan, be quiet, you go first. (Ethan smiled slightly, looking directly into Della's eyes. Mischief danced in his eyes. When some golden strands of hair fell across Della's forehead, Ethan gently brushed them away. Della was surprised but said nothing; she was enjoying these moments. Suddenly, Ethan stepped closer to Della, drawing her nearer with both hands, then slowly leaned towards her face and began to speak.
Ethan: Dela, I couldn't sleep last night. I only thought about you.
Della was now somewhat taken aback; it was as if Ethan were describing her own situation. Della, in a low voice like Ethan's, whispered close to his face:
Della: I couldn't sleep last night either, Ethan.
Ethan smiled sweetly, then whispered again:
Ethan: I've been feeling a different kind of attraction towards you since the prom night.
As Della became somewhat emotional and started to move back, Ethan pulled her closer again, a little more firmly.
Della: I feel it too.
Ethan let out a hearty laugh. Then he whispered again:
Ethan: At night, I see you walking around in my room. Do you see something like that too?
Della: Yes, I understand.
Ethan then touched Della's cheek with a fiery touch.
Ethan: Della
Della: Hmm! Della seemed mesmerized by Ethan's words. She couldn't understand anything; she could only see Ethan and nothing else: the surrounding nature, the birdsong, the rustling of the wind—nothing registered in her senses. Only Ethan and Ethan alone pervaded everything around her.
Ethan: So you love me, don't you!
Della: Yes, I love you. Saying this, Della was very surprised. Meanwhile, Ethan was laughing. How did he manage to bring out the feelings from Della's heart? Della looked at Ethan... Understanding the situation, Ethan punched him hard in the back.
Della: And you?
Ethan: (Shouting very loudly) I love you, Della, I love you, Della.
Della jumped into Ethan's arms. Ethan embraced Della without delay. Before they could go any further, they heard the sound of clapping from somewhere.
Looking around, they saw Billy staring at them, showing his yellow teeth, laughing hideously, and clapping his hands. It was an unbearable sight for Ethan and Della; they thought there was no one else on this hilltop besides the two of them. But where did this Billy come from? Ethan started shouting:
Ethan: Billy, are you following us?
Della: Shame on you, Billy, what's wrong with you?
Billy: Didn't I tell you that you two were in love? You insulted me then, so what is all this now?
Ethan: What's it to you?
Billy: I said I would show you.
Ethan: Why are you acting like this?
Billy: It's my duty now, buddy!! Ha... ha...!
Della: Oh... No... Billy!
Ethan: Get away from here, you brute, leave us alone!
Billy's hideous laughter doubled.
